Breakfast Topic: What PvE content will tide you over until Cataclysm?

The Spousal Unit thinks it's going to be another Troll dungeon, since we're due. I'm hoping for a sandbox area like the Isle of Quel'Danas. Others have expressed hopes of more from the nether regions of Northrend.
What extra PvE content would you like to see before Cataclysm? And what do you think is most likely to happen, regardless of your wishes?

I think it'll be some random heroic stuff expanding on the city of Gun'drak. I hope there'll at least be a small raid there but I doubt it. Even if there is, I would expect the loot to be sidegrades to ICC-25 normal.
The reason I say Gun'drak is because that snake tail in the 5m instance has been driving me nuts for ages now!

clearly i dont pay enough attention when im running instances. i never noticed it before.

When you get to Drakkari Colossas, look down over the balcony into the room below (not the lake side, the opposite balcony), and there's a huge snake tail running along the bottom floor, disappearing into the far wall. Would make a good raid boss.

They'll most likely make a 5 man (or multiple 5 mans) that drops ilvl 251 loot. This would follow the pattern of 5 mans dropping loot a tier higher each time. It would also align with Blizzard's goals of allowing everyone to see Arthas die, albeit sometime after the hardcore progression guilds kill him. Getting the more casual guilds geared up quickly would achieve this goal.
If it's as long as I suspect it will be til Cataclysm (i.e. fall) then they'll probably put in a one-boss raid as well. The most obvious place seems to be under Wyrmrest Temple. My guess is they'd make it something like Sarth: a loot pinata for those who do it on normal (we want people to see Arthas remember!) with a nasty hardmode that will keep the progression guilds busy. I would also expect them to put some more quests in the game as well.
If I'm wrong and Cataclysm is coming out earlier than I expect (i.e. summer), then all I'd really expect to see is a 5 man or two, for the reasons I stated above.

i sense gundrak might be coming... just like a filler.

I agree. Especially considering the fact that there seems to be an extra temple area across from the dungeon.

That extra instance is an entrance to the other side of the same dungeon.

I would also like another Sandbox area like the Isle of Quel'danas. Solo content has been pretty disappointing for me in Wrath, and some good, well-made solo content would be a breath of fresh air.
Still, I am not in the majority, and I expect the new content will be either a 5-man dungeon or a single-boss raid encounter, neither of which will tide me over nearly as long as solo-content.

I agree, anyone with T8 or above can kill Icecrown mobs in 1-3 hits. They aren't even challenging to people in all greens.

I'm with you on another Isle of Q area - I solo a lot and that was great fun. I'd like something set in Azjol-Nerub (not the 5 man but another 'cavern') and as we progress we knock down more walls and open it more and more until it is finally the huge region it was destined to be!

In Grizzly Hills, there is a large, fallen tree. Vordrassil I think it's name is. It's roots went deep and touched where Yogg Saron was or something, and got corrupted. There are furblogs there who are also corrupted. The furblogs come in two factions. Killing some of one makes you non-hostile to the other.
What's cool about the tree is that the furblogs have a the workings of a city going on inside the stump.
If this area was worked on, it would make a cool IQD daily area. The city would have to be expanded deeper both into the ground and into the trunk of the tree, and the lowbie quest content in the area would need to be redesigned to work with the new content. Some of the new dailies would be for the lowbies as an extension of the original questing grounds. The new, level 80 dailies would have players venturing into the expanded city.
What would be really cool is if the expanded furblog city was sealed off from the rest of the world, like the Deeprun Tram. Basically, a public instance with dailies inside. There could also be a new 5-man that has players exploring under the city, accessed from within the "public instance" city area.
The instance would be laid out vertically so that players go down along the roots of the tree towards the source of corruption. Maybe they'll find more of those faceless horrors of Yogg Saron's, some Twilight Cultists, and a whole lot of crazy furblogs. If there is one thing this expansion hasn't had yet, it's an instance with furblogs you can kill lots of.
Or there could be a new 5-man out in Sholozar Basin. There is at least one 5-man in each of the Northrend zones, except for Sholozar. And I guess Crystalsong if you don't count Violet Hold...

Obviously patch 3.3.3 will be "The Argent Afterparty!"
Features:
-Gather at the tournmanet grounds to do even more jousting dailies as a way to look back on the days when we had to do jousting dailies... why did we need to learn those skills again?
-PvP content: since the Lich King is defeated (sort of but not really), the Horde and Alliance have no reason to play nice. Tournament is no longer a Sanctuary. Good luck completing your dailies without getting ganked!
-PvE content: The Black Knight returns! Did you really think your petty tournament could stop an agent of the Scourge?

LOL
Possum Feb 13th 2010 8:22AM
....hey, wait, why did we have to do all that jousting?
YOU MADE ME JOUST FOR NOTHING BASTARDS! *shakes fist in the air*
Hivetyrant Feb 13th 2010 8:27AM
I can see it now.....
"Blizzard is pleased to announce, a revamp of all our battlegrounds!
Introducing:
*Jousting Gulch!
*Jousting Basin!
*Jousting valley!
*Storm of the jousts!
*Isle of Joustquest!
We are so sure you love these new BG's we have completely removed the old ones!"

Ah the good ol times. I remember trying to do dailies on Quel'danas and getting ganked incessantly. So much ganking that an "anti-gank squad" was necessary to purge the Isle of Alliance (or Horde).
I imagine that this is what it would be like if the tournament suddenly became not neutral.

LOL LOVE IT!
"The Argent Afterparty" THAT RULES!!
kabshiel Feb 13th 2010 12:29PM
There really should've been jousting in the Lich King encounter. Maybe we could ride some dragons too.
Hu Feb 14th 2010 6:28AM
It's Oculus with jousting, to encourage more players to go there.
