MMO-Champion guides cause HAVOC on the market. People selling glyphs for below the cost of parchment, paying 1000%+ the value for Book of Glyph Mastery, etc. After the Saronite-Shuffle guide, eternal earth went from 6g on my server to 35g. I guarantee there wasn't enough profit in the market to support that much new supply. I'm sure people who post guides mean the best, but I feel like the majority of people just take them to be "get rich quick" guides and end up losing 3000g leveling their new profession, but never making back a quarter of it. In reality, I would bet the majority of the effect that such ultra-popularized guides, such as this incoming one here, only inject turbulence into the market, often at the expense of the newcomers. It would take numbers beyond what are easy to collect to show this, but I would expect that there is a significant contraction in the market everytime a popular gold guide is released as millions of gold are wasted trying to catch the next best wave. This contraction would primarily come from people shifting from dailys/farming to secondary production, which they will inevitably fail at due to much more experienced AH tycoons who will probably make even more money off selling them what they need to enter the market. That's what I do at least.
