Breakfast Topic: Breaking the bank

I have a confession to make. I am... the world's biggest collector of useless junk in game. At this point, bank space is something that doesn't exist unless I delete something first. From trinkets to weapons to armor sets to items that are utterly and completely useless, it's all sitting in my bank, begging to be thrown away, but I simply cannot bring myself to do it.
While some call me utterly mad for hanging on to outdated items and armor, others share my passion for collecting. We commiserate over limited bank space and remember the days way back when. The days of yore when pets, mounts and keys also had to be carried in bags -- and not the fancy 24 slotters people carry around today, no sir. We had Mooncloth Bags and we liked it. Well... we didn't like it, but there wasn't really another alternative. We are obsessed. And we need bigger bags.
There is one particular thing that all of my characters banks have in common, however. A full, unused stack of Really Sticky Glue.
I mean come on. It'll come in handy someday.
So how about it -- are you a packrat? Is there something you absolutely must keep on every character? And more importantly, what's the weirdest thing in your bank?

Definately a pack rat and a collector. The more quests I do... the less bank space I have. I just finished my quest chain to upgrade dungeon set 1 to dungeon set 2... and you'd best believe that dungeon set 2 is not going anywhere. Ever.

Now that I'm playing my priest (who was my 3rd 70 and barely made it to 70 before WotLK) as my main, I'm not collecting much besides obsolete enchanting mats and cloth and various "I might need it sometime" junk.
However, on my BC main, a druid, not only did I have 4 sets of gear for the different specs + shadow res gear, but I could not bear to get rid of any obsolete tier gear (especially since I can't shard or vendor it and destroying it just to make bank space is just too terrible- some of it, like the t4 helm after getting t5, I refunctioned by adding a resist enchant and gemming void spheres for use in fights where partial resistance was helpful [Anetheron], but mostly I just wanted to keep it all). Then there's the ten billion trinkets that COULD all be useful again and I don't want to trash because of what they dropped from (not sure I'll ever use the Ashtongue trinket but LOOK GAISE I'M EXALTED WITH ASHTONGUE).
When the spell power change obsoleted half of my caster DPS set (with my healer gear now being flat out better), and once Northrend stuff obsoletes my tier 4 level feral gear though, some of it will have to go in the trash. Sadly.

It's not just my bank. In my main character's bags I generally carry Benediction, Don Carlos' Famous Hat, Snowman Disguise Kit with several stacks of snowballs, and my little Love is in the Air Basket (which was great back during Hyjal between waves). You never know when you're going to have to pop out some style.

While I wouldn't say that they are USELESS . .. I have a weakness for cloth.
While I can take or leave linen, if I pick up or am given any other cloth, I HAVE to keep it, use it or give them away to someone who might need it. Mostly, I keep them. I send them back and forth betw. my main and my bank toon because neither have enough room to keep all the cloth.
Maybe it was all that time I spent over the years farming for cloth for tailoring, never having enough to get my first aid up until I finally didn't need that particular cloth for tailoring anymore. Maybe because ridiculously enough I gained quiet a few of my levels FARMING FOR CLOTH, and I keep thinking "what if there is a guildie or a friend desperately in need of cloth?"
If you could see all the silk and runecloth (both cloth and bolts) I have somewhere on some toon . . . you'd probably think I was a sick person. Mageweave . . . I would have more if I didn't make Dreamweave gear for every good friend leveling a clothie. And Wool . . . well, actually I sold bolts of those for a pretty high sum around Christmas time. In fact, I probably should sell a lot more of that cloth and yet . . . . what if someone just NEEDS them??
Oh yeah, and I can't get rid of that spinning hat from Gnomeregan. It looks too funny. :D

in order of importance:
* Tier 0.5 (this was one of the most difficult gears sets to get in the game to date, none of this badge stuff.)
* Unstoppable force and immovable object (it took me weeks of pvping to get those from AV)
* Tier 1 ( as a paladin I still think this is the best looking tier in the game, and if I do ceremonial RPing I use this set)
* Mallet for ZF, staff for Mara, blood of innocents ( critical tools for dungeons of the past)
* Any tier gear (I can't bring myself to throw away any tier pieces, even the hideous Tier 5)

On one of my toons, I was keeping the full "of the Fang" set from Wailing Caverns and the full "Defias" set from Deadmines. My bank is/was full of the most worthless crap in game - I think I still had 70ish elder coins from previous Lunar Festivals...
My brother in law and his friend held an intervention for me about 2 weeks ago and I had to rationalize keeping all the stuff I keep and mostly, I just couldn't rationalize it. On the plus side, I'm about 500g richer now after selling all the crap I kept in my bank...
Oh the shame...
I created an alt to keep all the non-soulbound crap "i may need someday". Anyone need 200 snowballs? Or 10 stacks of wrapping paper.
WHAT!!??
Don't judge me...

The main things that I can't bring myself to get rid of are most of my old healing maces (for some reason I've never felt the same about spellpower daggers). I've also got half a Val'anyr in there that I don't see myself completing any time soon, but maybe a few expansions from now when I'm doing Ulduar lolruns with my friends.
I kept my valorous earthshatter set because it was the first full tier set I had, and one of my favourite armor models ever, and I also held on to my hunter's armor set from the pre-wrath scourge invasion because seriously, judgement armour, on a hunter? Yes PLEASE.
But the main things I hold onto are small silly items from quests or that friends gave me. Such a stack of 13 cat statuettes from my guildmaster, my ultrasonic screwdriver, and a Furious Crawdad that another friend mailed me for no apparant reason and which I always carry with me (occasionally bringing it out and waving it at bosses).

Thank you for that, now i know i'm not alone with my unused stacks of really sticky glue. Once i used it on a mob, just so *this time* a toon would actually use the damn glue. Well, it sure is handy, the mob was glued indeed. See ? We were right all along ! Stick to your glue !
Also, the screenshot remembers me of my own semi-organised clutter ... all the crap that i could never ever throw away. The drakefire amulet, my collection of Sayge's Fortunes (almost complete !), my old Teamster's skull, my collection of (2) pointy hats, the city clothes, so pretty, that i never wear ... good times.

I almost forgot, and sorry for the double post, but another thing i will always keep is my beloved archmage Vargoth staff. Wherever i go, Vargoth is here too and gets to be summoned so he can give the raid his blessing, or simply enjoy a nice view. And when we're finally there, fighting Arthas himself, Vargoth shall be there too, witnessing the whole thing, maybe next to a romantic pincnic umbrella to shield him from danger.

I finally used my really sticky glue...during the Sourfang fight. The blood beasts were immediately going for one of our healers so I gave it a try. I then tried frostweave nets and since those work, I still have 6 really sticky glues left. Who knows, maybe they can be used to repair some broken precious artifact in Cata.
