My philosophy is that the whole point of bank space is to actually use it, so at any time my bank is stuffed full of items that have special meaning to me.

The item I treasure the most is the saved copy of one of the first in-game letters written to me several years ago by a very charming pally I had a crush on. No matter how low on bank space I'd get for more practical things, that letter always stuck around.

And so did the very charming pally. He's now my real-life husband :)
