Whatever you do, don't go looking to buy and say "my mats + tip." The buyer saying he's going to tip without specifying how much just sounds like a douchebag who's going to drop 1g in the window at the end. If you actually do plan on giving a decent tip, just say the amount ahead of time. I guarantee you'll get faster service that way.

Yep, I always ignore these people when I see them looking for patterns I know (unless it's an obviously new player looking for something for a quest, i'm a little softer then). When I'm looking for something, I always offer a set amount, and it's high enough to get immediate replies, cause i don't want to waste my time in trade any longer than i have to.

I was looking for a specific pattern one day and was saying "LF BS w/ X Pattern will tip".Someone whispered me "How much will you tip?" and I said 50g. He didn't respond.Someone else whispered me and said "I have the pattern." So I got it made, and tipped him 100g. Why? Because he seemed nice. And I like giving nice people incentives to keep playing WoW. The first guy might have been willing to do it for 100g, and I might have saved myself 10 minutes of looking. But I felt a lot better about giving the second guy my money. When I don't state the tip I'm willing to pay, it's because the amount is dependent on the crafter. I usually have a range I'll tip within, but the actual amount will depend on my experience.
