As soon as you get some bumpers, a professional host (Mike Schramm) and some commedic relief (Turpster) i will actually start listening again. Right now this podcast sounds like a few guys hanging out in their basement talking about wow.

Exactly.
Sarakin Feb 15th 2010 8:48PM
well in my opinion it always felt like that...that's kinda why I listened. Sure Mike and the T had more segments with Sacco we have guests. The fact that he's getting them to come is a step up from when Schramm was in charge (allthough with Turpster what else do you need?)

"Your hosts suck" isn't very helpful feedback. "Get bumpers" is, somewhat, although we never really had those in the podcast ever, sans for a few intros to segments that were fan made, and even those had run out by the time Schramm left.
If you have constructive feedback, feel free to give it. If not, please refrain from commenting. The community doesn't need more trolls.
Thanks.

Personally, I like how these guys have pretty much turned the WoW insider show into the Tank insider show.

I find the new WoW Insider show a lot more informative than before. Although I enjoyed Turpster's jokes, I like the focus on lore and discussion on current encounters more. I love listening to Sacco and Rossi discuss the game and as Sarakin said, that's why I listen to podcast's in the first place.
The only complaint I have is that Sacco shouldn't try to act like Schramm too much. At least the "Hello everybody in the chat channel" in some of the earlier shows sounded a bit ... forced, for the lack of a better word. Do your own thing, that's what works best.

I don't mind the new show. The old show was either talking about something completely unrelated to just recapping what we've already red in blog posts. The new one seems to go into detail with people just talking more about their own personal experiences in wow. You can only capture so much info from a blog, but free speaking sometimes gives you a couple more tidbits of info.
I do think that music would be a nice thing to have professional touch. I'm not sure why it seems most podcasts never seem to have any outro music. If you're like me and only half listen sometimes because you're busy, half the time you think something happened to your connection because the sound just went off. Audio queues rock.
The only part in terms of the people on the show would be not to overdo it on the jokes. Sometimes Rossi goes a little too far past the punchline. I don't mean that to be insulting or anything. I'm sure my ADD like attention span just conflicts with this type of joke telling.

Turpster and Schramm were entertaining, but they actually knew very little about the game. I have gotten a few bits of good information out of the new crew, even if they are not as entertaining.

The ENTIRE Horde side on Destromath on the US servers is OBSESSED with Gearscore. It annoys me so much.

I would love it if you guys would update the podcast on the Zune marketplace again.

We'll look into this.

I would love it if they posted the podcast the day after on itunes. Iam still waiting for 128 to get uploaded there, been waiting 2 weeks now! And for the new hosts they are so much better then the annoying turpster and who ever the host was. Mike and Matt do a great job!!!

I miss Mike and T. I still love hearing Sacco and Rossi, though.
PS - Cant get this episode to download on Itunes.

Be reading some of the comments on the latest podcasts and looking back on how I used to enjoy the podcast and how it's now I can understand a bit the frustration of some community members.
As we all know there's another great WoW podcast out there, and I download every week both The Instance and the Wow Podcast. The main reason I download the podcasts is not for the info or news. I can always check Wow.com for that and be always up to date on anything Wow related. The biggest thing about the podcasts it how experience members of the community see the game.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that the most important thing for me (and I'm sure for some of the listeners) is not the news, but is how the news will impact my game. I alone will always make certain assumptions of the way things might change, but a guy like Matthew Rossi or Mike Sacco will always bring a different point of view to the table. That's what I'm looking for. That different point of view that I couldn't see by myself.
While the new hosts are great for that, there are more things that make a podcast better. The most important in my opinion is "passion". And that's probably what is lacking on the current format. I'm not saying that the current hosts don't care about the podcast, what I'm saying is that they really don't seem to express their passion about the game and the podcast. Rossi has some great moments and comments, but from time to time the hosts do seem to be doing the podcast more because it's a job and less because they love it.
Yes, I know someone will say. It's their job. But is WoW OUR job or our passion? If people take time from their day to stop here and always read the news, download the podcast, watch tankspot videos and still be super excited to do the same thing over and over again, I'm pretty sure we can assume we are passionate about it. And we like to see passionated people talking about it too. Think about it, have you ever seen commercials on TV in which the actor was "sad" while talking about his product? Or where they super excited about it? Slap chop anyone?
With a little bit more of passion and truly expressing that passion, via new bumpers, a more professional set up for the podcast, better sound equipment and specially presenting things on a positive way the wow.com podcast has a lot to gain.

I understand that with new hosts the format, flow and general feel of the podcast will be different. The only thing I can complain about is the time between the podcast and when it goes up on iTunes. This one was over a week late, which for a weekly podcast is a bit over the top. It would be awesome if the podcast was available by Monday or Tuesday.
Just a suggestion.

I could not agree with you more. I look foward to listing to these at work but then having to wait now 2 weeks and its still not on itunes makes me cry 8( . I love the show you guys just need to get it up on itunes alot sooner!

I like the new show and liked the old show.
With the exception of the one that was basically Sacco flirting with cosplayers for an hour, the new show feels like it provides more information than the original format. Mike and T were sometimes frustratingly brief on certain subjects - they'd promise for weeks to get a warlock on and then spend two minutes actually talking about warlocks, for example.
The main things lacking from the new show are energy and humour. That's mainly down to the personalities of the hosts and I'm not sure anything could be done about that. Bumpers would probably help, maybe an extra guest on some shows.
I appreciate The New Wow Insider Show is a work in progress, learn as you go thing, and I do enjoy the show. I'd love the MP3s to go up on a more predictable schedule (I try and listen every Wednesday since I have a long extra trip to make on Wednesdays) but I understand it's not always possible.

The new podcast is 'fine' but right now it is like a half a dozen others. What is lacking is the sense that the new hosts actually care about doing this podcast rather than 'we got forced into doing this at the last minute and we're doing the best we can so stop whining'. Adding to this sense of disinterest is the fact that the podcasts are now put up so late. We're getting them after the next one is already recorded...
Wow.com should realise there are people like me who found the podcast first and then started reading wow.com regularly. The podcast used to make me go back and read different sections that were talked about on the show. Now I can't be bothered because a) the meat of the show segment has been diluted and seems more like the '5 minutes at the end of the show after we talk to guests and tanking' and b) it's all so old that I've heard/read about it elsewhere and c) I can't find the posts because they are so old and I'm not browsing back two weeks to find it.
I gave this new format a chance and I like both Sacco and Rossi as guests but I'm not sure they or wow.com care about doing this podcast any more. It's too bad because this show should be the place for news and views and it just isn't any more.
Specific suggestions:
Please post the audio in a timely manner.
Organise the show and show notes ahead of time so that adequate time is given to various topics.
Realise that not everyone is doing high-end raiding or tanking. I love hearing about these topics to a degree but there are different kinds of players out there and we might care about other topics as well.
If the hosts feel forced to do this, please find new hosts. If not, then please sound like you want to do this!
PS-I haven't heard show 128 since it isn't up on itunes yet (2 weeks later) so maybe some of my comments don't apply to this episode.
Cochil Feb 16th 2010 11:29AM
Whats up with the show not being posted on itunes yet its been 2 long weeks. I look forward to hearing it so please hurry up.
