Around Azeroth: The sleeping gypsy
Oh, this is neat. Toothymagoo and Starrycloud of Earthen Ring were passing through Desolace when they felt moved to recreate Henri Rousseau's masterpiece The Sleeping Gypsy (minus the moon and plus a fishing pole.) Toothymagoo writes, "This has got me thinking. If I am successful, you may be seeing a version of The Last Supper staged in the Filthy Animal in Dalaran, and I am still looking for a large clamshell to set up a Birth of Venus. Just bringing a little fine art to Azeroth. Stay tuned."
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

I would LOVE to see the last supper in the Filthy Animal. That would be great! I hope Toothymagoo figures it out soon!

Wow, the screenshot gets it pretty close. Freakishly close. Rousseau, ah Rousseau.

This would be an excellent theme for a blog, or at least a Flickr collection.

That is all kinds of awesome! The screenshot does get it pretty close. Huzzah for more fine art knowledge to the unwashed masses!

Excellent reproduction. I saw that this morning on the sidebar and recognized it instantly. (I was amazed I still remembered something from my art history class in college.) Kudos to Toothymagoo and Starrycloud. I'm excited to see what else they might do.

I think Tanaris would have been a better locale, but other than that, this is pretty awesome!

Ello all, Starrycloud here! Yes, really, not bluffing. Thanks to all who comment! If you have any other classical art that you think would be a good idea for Toothy and I, plz comment. And, for any updates, Toothy and I are working on the Birth of Venus. We have some photoshoping to do (because of the lack of giant clams in Eversong Woods). Thanks again!
If you want to contact me in-game, I also frequent these characters-
Sneakymagoo (Troll Rogue, Earthen Ring)
Ćclipse (Draenei DK, Moon Guard)
Marei (Human Pally, Moon Guard)
Kudos!

I hate this comment system so much. It ate my other one.
Easy: Munch - Scream
Hard: Toulouse-Lautrec - Horse Rider at the Fernando Circus

Nightmare (LOL): The Bayeux Tapestry (this might require pasting a couple (dozen) screenshots together....)

Oh how awesome! My parents have a print of this painting, and I always loved looking at it. I fully endorse fine art in Azeroth! :D

This is brilliant. I agree with Minos that this should have its own blog.
