If you were to ask Wowcrendor how he feels about Belf Rap, I'm pretty sure he'd tell you I Dislike Bloodelf Rap. It's just not his favorite genre. However, he's encountered enough folks who's told him to try it out himself that he finally did so. Really, though, from what I understand, Wowcrendor's mostly challenging other machinimators to try out story-based machinima instead of simply music videos.
Whatever the story behind this video, however, I found it to be a lot of fun. The visuals aren't exactly amazing, but I believe that was part of the point. Wowcrendor pulled out some great lyrical skills, though. It's funny, amusing, keeps time, and carries the same hallmark sense of humor that you see in his other movies.
I'm definitely interested to see if anyone answers this video with another piece of machinima. A lot of art works best when it's in conversation with other creators' pieces, so I think we could see some really fun stuff if someone does answer Wowcrendor's challenge.
Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an e-mail at machinima AT wow DOT com.
I am going to preface this comment by saying that if a "Blood elf rap" video is good.. then I do enjoy it, especially since a lot of them are meant to be funny.
Now that I've said that, I will say I love this video more. XD Wowcrendor just gets better and better to me.
BELF rap? Blood elves are so prevalent now that all rap music made by WoW fans features them?
Well good. It doesn't seem anyone who likes hip hop, WoW, and working windows movie maker to put together these half assed videos has any real talent in any of the aforementioned, so I guess it's fitting.
I don't get involved with subcultures beyond enjoying some of the music produced by them, so excuse me for not knowing or particularly caring about the specifics of the terminology behind those two phrases.
That's not sarcasm by the way, even if it might come off as a bit abrasive: to me both phrases are nothing more than a way to describe a genre of music.
I love this guy and everything he comes out with. Thank you for this, it was amazing and hillarious. The whole rhyming bit in the middle with tooth decay, lead astray, Kobe with the fade away had me laughing out loud.
"The visual werent that good, but i think that was the point."
he originally made the song, posted it on Youtube yesterday, and then made a poll to see if he should make a video. So, yes, he did this in one day. He is that awesome.
Although it does apply to Nyhm (he's a belf, and he raps) it's probably aimed at all the Nyhmitators (yes I did just coin that phrase) out there that take themselves way too seriously. Nyhm's raps have always been tongue-in-cheek affairs where he pokes as much fun at himself as he does the game around him (with a few exceptions like "Just So OP", but that one was horrible anyways). "My Name is Nyhm" is probably the best example of his self-deprecating style.
Besides, Nyhm has technically made a couple "story" style machinimas..."30 Seconds of Epic Bliss" and "Twas the Morning of Patch Day".

Top notch job, right there. I'm glad to see people under the story-based machinima banner.

I don't know where you're coming from, but if belves were in hip-hop machinima, they'd be hated just as much.
Raze Feb 16th 2010 1:01PM
the terms hip-hop and rap are interchangeable.
Case in point, I'm glad terrible wannabe musicians stick to using the race I hate the most exclusively to peddle their ear splittingly bad music.
Khremloc Feb 16th 2010 1:03PM
Oh, then I see that we're on the same terms. :)

Rap is something you do.
Hip-hop is something you live.
You may not like it, but within the community there is a difference.

Seems like a shot at people like Nymh. I'll be interested in what he's got to say in the matter.
