Fat, Ugly and Flying strikes me as an incredibly beautiful piece. It's the freshman machinima project between two friends, and I think the wonderful, hopeful surreality of the video does great justice to its source. It actually reminds me a lot of Warrior's Dream, in that both seem to share and interesting dream-like quality.
The music for the video is fun and playful which suits the tenor of the overall video. I think the use of a black bearded orc is ironic and powerful. Fat, Ugly and Flying might lead you to believe there's some self-deprecation happening, but it's pretty clear that "ugly" is getting used in the same sense as "ugly duckling." It's a positive message about how nothing should hold us back from our dreams.
I hope Epic Dream Entertainment keeps making movies, and tries out new things. While Fat, Ugly and Flying might have felt a little long, the video shows there's a lot of promise with these folks.

It did nothing for me. Music was fine, editing looked clean. Just... I kept waiting for the payoff, or denoument or anything... and then the credits rolled.
Yeah, from the written review I was expecting a life-affirming tale to rival the cinematic greats. Instead I get 5 minutes of an orc swimming in the air.
^ same as Mark I was expecting some great movie considering it was 5 min long and after watching several other movies posted here and was quite dissapointed to watch an orc swimming around Azeroth......
Not bad. Interesting. The problem I had with it was the movement of the orc. He seemed to be really struggling in the air, doing a lot of swimming for not very much movement. With the music, you expect him to be moving a little more effortlessly.
Orcs are not fat! That is pure muscle, baby. Even when a little cushion would be welcome (for example on a female orc's abdomen) you get solid muscle tone.
As for ugly--well, beauty is as beauty does.
I do agree though that he was flying.
I liked it. It was a totally random tour of Kalimdor which abruptly shifted to Northrend (I sensed an enormous amount of scenery got cut for time purposes) but it was still watchable and the music was not awful. Plus: NO BLOOD ELVES.
I think it was beautiful and obviously made by people who love the game. Not just for the dungeons, or the pvp or what uber gear you can get....but just for the overall simple beauty that this game has and I think so many people miss. It's quirky and yes a little long but it does show that there is something quirky and amazing about every part of this game from the landscapes to the characters themselves.
I know I may be over thinking a simple piece but I believe that is the overall theme. One person said they were waiting for the "pay off". The pay off is the whole thing.
Well done. Can't wait to see what else they may come up with!
I think part of the initial allure of this video is the detaching of the camera in spectator mode, and the slow tracking shots through familiar parts old-world Kalimdor. This is a perspective we're not used to seeing, but it will become more prevalent as Cataclysm approaches and anyone can fly in the old world.
Pros: - Nice use of camera tracking/waypoints. - Good choice of familiar or nostalgic settings. - Artistc placement of the subject within the frame (not always in the center).
Cons: - Lack of interesting character(s). - Lack of story. - Effects chosen do not add meaningfully to the setting.
Overall grade: D - Technical merit: C+ (mostly for the camera work) - Narrative merit: F (nonexistent) - Artistic merit: D (extremely incohesive)
Hmmn...I understand what they are trying to do here, making a mood-piece, and the visuals do their job well. However everything about it gets absolutely ruined by that terible terrible music. I tried turning of my computer volume and put on some sigur ros instead. That improved the experience by 240% (rested + heirloom bonuses)
We dream about money, success, some of us dream about flying or (some others) dope and b1tchez...
Well, WoW holding us back from all that except dope. When you spend all free time playing WoW, reading about Wow, writing about WoW and don't do anything to make more money, score some bi-ches or some how get ability to fly (again except dope).
so yeah, it was a positive message :) quit wow cuz' you end up how that video - waiting and waiting for playoff and then... credits will roll

It's just so random...Great tune and nicely synched up with his flailing arms. I'm gonna have that beat stuck in my head all day now. :)

Interesting use of Eric Prydz's Pjanoo.
Was hoping for a bit more from the video though tbh.

This orc was fat, ugly, and also flying...
Other than that, it's not really interesting.

I tried that tactic but ended up watching the actual Hoppipola video instead when I 'Tubed the song. :P
Not that I didn't like this video though.

I guess it is nice? I guess it is good for 1 minute?
And I also guessed that this got really boring very quickly.
Watching a flying orc for 5 minutes is too much of a persons time.
idk what to say......It was backgrounds with an orc swimming pasted on it.
Sorry......wait no I am not sorry. This is really really boring.

Random fact:
Music was taken from Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony
