WoW Moviewatch: Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?

Of all the music that I ever expected to see in World of Warcraft machinima, Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? was nowhere near the top. Even with many covers of the well-known song, it remains to me that sort of jokingly bad music we lamely danced to in college while pounding shots. I was just happy to leave it as a remnant of decades past.
However, if the song's going to show up in Azeroth, it makes sense that it would absolutely be sung by belfs. Severance recognized that fact and created the WoW music video Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? It's a colorful, hypnotizing music video, with the music performed by a series of blood elves.
The video is fairly amusing, though it blends a lot of general animation with actual WoW models. It does strike me as well-suited to belf videos, though. It's got a lot of flamboyance and energy, and the blood elf haircuts do remind me a lot of Rod Stewart. Nice job, Severance!

I liked everything but when the guy was singing. With all the really nice special effects and editing the creator did, it would be nice if the Blood Elf singer's animations could have been edited to not make it look like a dub.
But other than that, pretty neat... I liked the different takes on the refrain.

Bah. I was hoping this would be a video of the Rod Stewart song. That would have been much more interesting. Still a bad song, but much more interesting.
Plus, as you said; Rod Stewart is basically a blood elf.

it is a fine video, with very high quality production values, severance are clearly very good at what they do, but...blood elves + rap == overplayed.
i was initially drawn in by the sleeping human. i was dimly hoping that - when we saw the tv screen, it'd be a "video" about him and a bunch of women traipsing around him with the rod stewart song going as a background.
what i got was a bad, bad cover version, so -1 for the music.
and on top of that it was blood elves. so, -1 for the choice of protagonist.

apart from that, i do hope they keep making wow videos. the colourful style and the wonderful way each verse was done was very neat. that and all the little effects and touches were awesome to see as well.

uh yeah i stopped watching when i saw the ridiculous amount of bevel+emboss that was used in the opening scene.

The video was 75% Aftereffects and 25% actual wow material. It almost seemed like it was including the actual warcraft models out of coincidence, not deliberately making a wow video.

The quality of the video was great, but Belf rap and the song could have been done better. Id love to see this artist try their hand at other types of music, i think they would great.

I just saw the other day that this song was in this year's top 10 Billboard Valentine's Day songs for 2010.

When l loaded wow.com just now, I got a ton of actionscript errors from Adobe Flashplayer 10 in Firefox regarding this embedded video...
So, might want to look into that.
