belt buckles and cheap consumables are not going to get you gold capped. due to ease of entry (low cost of mats, only requires 415 blacksmithing) there is going to be competition, and profit/time spent or profit/real time elapsed is going to be craptacular. I've done the belt buckle/70 boe blues thing and you're looking at 1000g per week under the best of circumstances with little to no competition. The real money in blacksmithing is selling the current tier of epics. I got the ashen verdict recipes the day i reached the required rep and have made anywhere from 2k-8k of profit per boot/leg sold. Even now I can easily sell at least 4 pieces a week for 3k in profit a pop all for very little time investment. There is not likely to be much competition due to the high cost of acquiring the recipes and mats.

Unfortunately that appears to be realm / profession reliant. On my server it's very difficult to sell the current higher tier BoE plate epics. I have a friend who makes a fortune on leather and cloth stuff but I've seen plate sit for days unsold at (and even below) mat cost.I do see lots of Belt Buckles move though. Enchanting rods are a mixed bag - even being the only one posting them and keeping them pretty competitive with the mat cost I sell very few over the period of a week.I've never tried selling the keys only because they're SO easy for Blacksmith's to make. The market will be flooded with them this week (thanks to this post) but maybe in a couple weeks they'll be worth checking out.
