Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Random Dungeon Finder changes

The most important change is not in the official notes yet, but a Zarhym post clarified that there will be no cooldown on the vote kick function. Combined with the fact that we'll be able to put a reason for the vote kick in the interface itself instead of having to whisper everyone, I think the classes that queue as tanks for the quick queue and then make it clear that they can't tank will find themselves doing less dungeons a day now.
The other exceptionally nice part of these changes is that we won't need to scrub around in general or trade looking for a holiday boss group, and won't have to travel either.
The full list from the patch notes after the break.
Official Patch 3.3.3 PTR Notes- The Deserter debuff given to players who leave a dungeon prematurely when queuing via the Random Dungeon option has been increased to 30 minutes, up from 15 minutes. The cooldown for using the Random Dungeon option remains 15 minutes.
- The Random Dungeon cooldown is no longer displayed as a debuff. Instead, players will see the cooldown time remaining displayed in the Dungeon Finder window when Random Dungeon or Random Heroic Dungeon is selected from the pull-down.
- If a player in your party has the Deserter debuff, or is on cooldown from the Random Dungeon option, his or her character name will be displayed in the Dungeon Finder window listed as "On Cooldown," preventing the group from queuing.
- Anyone in a dungeon party can now re-queue their group for a dungeon, as players will still be prompted whether or not to accept their chosen role.
- Players who use the Vote Kick option will now be prompted to provide a reason for kicking a party member. This reason will be presented to everyone in the party except for the person voted to be kicked.
- When joining as a group, more generous level requirements will be used instead of Random Dungeon level requirements so that players of different levels joining together will be eligible for a greater number of dungeons.
- World Event bosses (such as Ahune for the Fire Festival) will now be accessible through the Dungeon Finder. Players must use the Dungeon Finder to access these bosses.
- Parties randomly created via the Dungeon Finder will always be arranged in the party interface from top to bottom in the following order: tank, healer, damage, damage, damage.
- If a random party is created via the Dungeon Finder and a player cannot roll Need on an item, a reason will now be provided.

Who's the douche bag here?
Those things aren't reasons to leave a group. They're reasons to have a chat with the player and point out what they're doing wrong and, most importantly, WHY. Most players don't read sites like WoW.com and are mostly trying to figure it out on their own.
A reason to leave a group is when someone is doing those things, you point out the problem, and then they go berserk, shouting insults in chat and then doing things even worse.
Even then, you should vote to kick them instead of just leaving yourself. If you leave, it comes off as you being a jerk. If they're kicked, at least they get the memo that they were the problem.

i don't like dungeons anyway. Less reason to play each patch.
Why not make it so each party can kick every other party out.

Well..that and the dungeon finder is another nail in the coffin of realm communities, such as guilds, as well as taking the "world" out of world of warcraft.
Its about the unknown destination that people find fun now for some reason unknown to me, they cannot fathom that the journey to get there is also equally as fun or perhaps even more fun.

blue post link here btw.
halfway down page one he says that although not noted in patch notes, votekick timer removed.

I'm not impressed by queuing for holiday bosses until I know if it takes available summons into account (or offers an alternative to summons).
astronautcowboy3 Feb 20th 2010 12:21PM
I think it would be smart to buff drop rates and make them once-a-day encounters, akin to heroics. (Somewhat of a repost to another reply I made.)
nieboh Feb 20th 2010 12:27PM
How about this?
Holiday bosses have different loot rule priorities. The person who summoned the boss gets first dibs on the loot. If they don't want something, that loot passes to the rest of the group for the standard need/greed/de.
I guess the only problem is that while it removes an incentive for people to be dicks one way (leeching off other people's summons), it creates another (no reason to stick around once you've had your go).

How about this?
Every day of the holiday you get one summons as well as one point to spend on drops (If you don't summon today you get two summons tomorrow). Whoever is willing to spend the most points on a drop wins, but if there's a tie you can offer more, withdraw, or leave it up to the RNG.

So when the game messes up and "Dungeon can't be found" we get penalized for 30 minutes now? Since a GM told me the 15 minutes was "working as intended" this just makes it even better.
Snuzzle Feb 20th 2010 2:51PM
Umm, no, because that doesn't disband the party. You can just keep clicking the eye and trying to port back in. If the group breaks up, and you never click "leave party," they get the 30 minute debuff, not you.
Noid Feb 20th 2010 12:50PM
Parties randomly created via the Dungeon Finder will always be arranged in the party interface from top to bottom in the following order: tank, healer, damage, damage, damage.
Thank god! I expect the tank to be first, so I Earth Shield on my shaman, or PoM/Renew the first person which in some cases could be a Ret Pally, not always the tank. This is going to be so much easier!

I'm both excited and worried about the Holiday Bosses. I am VERY VERY VERY happy to be able to find groups this way! It's about time! I've gotten in to see the V-Day Boss ONCE simply because I can't find a group. The guildies don't want to go.. burned out from trying to farm drops from Direbrew, Horseman and Ahune... and the same goes for LFG. There is just no interest. :( So YAY!!!!! Now I can be stubborn and try to get these special mounts!
BUT.... Yeah.. What about the summons issue? A group could use a single pug over and over to get their summon. Or likewise, an individual could keep joining groups without a summon to share with the group. DRAMA!
I say this is a HUGE step in the right direction. Now, Blizzard needs to simply REMOVE the Summoning Quest stuff and let us summon these bosses as many times as we can stomach.
Kanap Feb 20th 2010 1:06PM
as many times as you want is a terrible idea then they might as well not have loot. Otherwise it'd be a loot pinata and people would get more and more abyss crystal which would furhter drive prices down and so on and so forth.
Res Feb 21st 2010 11:37PM
come on guys, read the thread. On your first kill of the day you get a "heart shaped box" or some such equivalent depending on the holiday. No more summoning 5 times. Everyone in the group gets a shot on the first kill.
placebo Feb 20th 2010 1:11PM
The dungeon finder gets better? Hurrah! =D
Also, Tylenol 3 is amazing.
Jon Feb 20th 2010 1:25PM
Oh boy! Now groups of elitist raiders can boot me from a heroic they think I can't tank (but one I've tanked a dozen times before) immediately and even include insults about my gearscore to boot! Thanks, Blizzard!
Gessilea Feb 20th 2010 1:29PM
You didn't want to run with them anyhow - they would have just been jerks the whole time. The queue for tanks is short enough that I'd MUCH rather be kicked than have to tear my hair out because the mage/lock/DK/whatever doing 5k dps doesn't have the patience to wait for me to thunderclap, while keeping a running commentary about how much I suck.
Steve Tanner Feb 20th 2010 1:27PM
"won't have to travel either"
Am I the only one who misses flying (or running, in the old world) to a dungeon? There are a lot of very great looking places in this game, and some interesting music along they way. It just seems that we're all in Dalaran, focused only on the result (emblems emblems emblems!) and not how we get there, including how the instance is run (no strategy, it's faster if we AoE everything, and faster if you don't bother typing a word during the run). just my 2c
Gessilea Feb 20th 2010 1:30PM
It depends on the instance, really. I don't miss flying places only to realize that the rest of the group is sitting in Dal waiting for a summons, either.
Possum Feb 20th 2010 6:36PM
I was always the ONLY person to fly. I'd have to say "Okay I'm here now guys, someone else needs to come too" While they all sat on their fat digital arses in Dal.
