Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Upcoming profession changes

There are a number of profession changes being introduced in patch 3.3.3. Most of these changes revolve around the speeding up process of crafting. For example, the cooldown and location requirements for Tailoring items like Moonshroud, Spellweave and Ebonweave? Gone!
Some craftable items have had their costs reduced.
More changes after the break!
Runed Orbs: Recipes which require this item have had their material requirements significantly reduced.
Fishing
The "Monsterbelly Appetite" daily fishing quest has changed so it now takes place outside the Violet Hold in Dalaran. The quest still requires a Severed Arm and has been renamed to "Disarmed!"
Inscription
Most recipes that required 2 inks now only require 1.
Mining
Titansteel Bar: Creating this item no longer results in a cooldown.
Tailoring
Glacial Bag: Creating this item now invokes a 7-day cooldown.
Better start generating more of these bags now if you hope to sell some of these on the auction house or for your alts.
The cooldown and location requirements have been removed from creating Moonshroud, Spellweave, and Ebonweave.

Note that the Glacial Bag requires 4x Moonshround and 4x Ebonweave, so it is kinda on a 80 hour cooldown right now, which is I guess better than a 168 hour cooldown (7 days) but you still can't grab the mats and churn out a dozen without shelling out a lot of gold.

Actually you can only make 4 cloth every 80 hours. So it's currently 160 hr (minimum) cooldown to make 8 cloth. Quite comparable to 168. I'm not sure why they're doing that to the bags though. The removal of the cloth cooldowns will let people make the other crafted items that require special cloth a lot easier. Why must the bags still be hard to create?
Adoisin Feb 21st 2010 1:56AM
Yeah but you can only make one cloth every four days right now. So, a 16 day wait to make one bag if you are not buying cloth, vs a 7 day wait for a bag. It's an improvement anyway.
Terry Feb 21st 2010 2:08AM
Assuming you are specialized in one of the types of cloth you make 2+1+1 every 4 days. You can easily trade the 1 spellweave for one of the others and end up with 2+2 every 4 days (which lets you make a bag every 8 days... or really every 160 hrs if you were to hit every 20 hr cooldown).

This is one of those rare situations where it's best to wait until the patch to capitalize on instead of trying to game it now, since it should hopefully create a situation where the materials drop in price but the actual goods stay at the same place.

>Why must the bags still be hard to create?<
Bags continue to have an indefinite value, more storage remains more storage until a larger one comes to replace them. Most of the cloth items are already replaced by better items though.

Wait, who is severing these arms in Dalaran?
It's a sanctuary! There's not supposed to be any combat there!
DruidGuard Feb 21st 2010 2:33AM
It must be the arms of the unfortunate http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=36776
and http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=36774
Guess they found out the hard way that players will gladly rip your arm off if it contains plans needed for an epic quest.

Oh... so that's why those guys are there.
i've been killing them for kicks, on both factions.

WTB some engineer love :(
Here's to Blizz putting Engineer-only, BoP passenger flying mounts, eh?
Magma Feb 21st 2010 2:31AM
Amen to this

*"Here's to... ...flying mounts in cataclysm, eh?"
I was making myself too excited =3

Blacksmiths get nothing cool.

To the op and banic:
Remember that bs & engy will be able to tinker items to finesse the stat bonuses.
I suspect that will keep the theorycrafters and us VERY busy.
My iPod must play an engineer; it tried to autocorrect engy to envy.

I feel like my helicopter can barely carry my elf. I'd hate to see it struggle to maintain a pair of tauren as well.

If they do, I hope it's something that's completely impractical.

Muse Mar 23rd 2010 5:25AM
At least it should increase the demand for parachutes, don't engineers make those too?
Eli Mar 23rd 2010 6:13AM
@Muse
Yes, but only Engineers gain the benefits from the parachutes. (passive bonuses only active if you have 400 eng, and chute only useable if you have 400 eng)
