WoW Moviewatch: Bad Romance by MichelleLynn

MichelleLynn is relatively new to machinima, which makes this first piece of work fairly impressive. The character models she used all feel appropriate to Gaga's song, and I liked the way she set up and transitioned from shot to shot. I will confess that I couldn't make heads or tails of the video's story, however. It seemed like there was some kind of narrative that MichelleLynn wanted to convey, but I just couldn't piece it together. Maybe it was something about a love triangle?
Like I said, though, this version of Bad Romance was pretty nice for someone so new to machinima. I hope that she gets enough encouragement to continue, since I think she could really go somewhere in the medium. I would just try to make the story a bit more transparent.

The moment I saw a BELF in the screen cap, a forceful portion of my brain took control and has caused me to reject any notion of watching the vid.
Film makers... please, please, please, stop using Blood Elfs.
Now I have to wait another hour or so for the next wow post. *sigh*

Loved the part when they were taking on the dragon. Very good. Also very confused. The undead looked like a stalker to begin with.

I'm not exactly sure, but what I got from it was she ended up stalking the undead dude and most of the video was her fantasy where both guys are fine with it and they become something nasty and powerful together. And then later one we see what actually happens. They both spurn her for each other.
What ever the case may be, I thought it was highly entertaining. Like so many others, I though "Another belf video" but was surprised when it seemed belf lady seemed to become obsessed with a forsaken guy. :o

To me it seemed the story was about the female Belf flirting with both males, and they were tired of her stringing both of them around. Since she couldn't decide which one she wanted, they left her and ran away together. XD

BELF comments aside it was good for her first attempt. The blood elf models fit nicely and honestly if she used human models it wouldn't look as good as it did. Certain models have looks that match the video and the blood elf matched this video.
The story, if there was a story was hard to figure out. Next time make the story more transparent as you said Michael. It's hard to tell if there was a story to go with the song or if she put the video together first then added the song after.
Overall it was a good first machinima. The visuals were spot on and everything was smooth and meshed well together save for the lack of a story or explanation as to what we are watching.

Enough with the Blood Elf Music Videos already. Or any music video for that matter, just give us some nice storylines with good visuals instead of another belffest.

So ok, are they High Elves or Blood Elves? I think that is the only bit i'm confused at, not to nit pick. Otherwise, i think if it's a first into Machinima it's a good run and i'm looking forward to newer stuff from her.

Prolly meant to be BELFs in context (Undead and Belfs seem to get along together since the rest of the horde really can't stand them to be honest). But her blue eyes misled me.

Belf video hate inc.. here we go again.
Dont get me wrong. Sometimes I wish there was other races too on videos featured as "main characters".
But first of all, I think she fitted in this as main character. Second of all, if you only go "QQ BELFS" you might aswell stop commenting. If you dont bring anything new to the table than mere QQ dont bother with one sentence. To be fair it had different races too.
As for the video. I like that its actually using different theme than the original music video. Also that they use different costumes on different situations. It had nice effects and camera work. Overall very good work.
Now brb, going to ask tailor to craft mooncloth robe..

Shadows. She needs shadows under her characters if she's going to be putting them in set backgrounds. Or at least arrange the lighting so that it looks better without them. And while the video is nice (I like the golden light ball washing over the big room) the story is a little hard to follow and it almost looks like she gave up on the romance bit after the dragon fight (which took place where again?).
But very nice job putting this together and much better than I ever managed with any of my tries at machinima.

I think this was pretty good for what it was.
I too am tired of people whining about Blood Elves. I'm sorry that they look more like popstars than any other race in the game- and I don't really think that using a Draenei as a popstar is any more imaginative. I think that the pretty best suits this genre.
I wish there were more machinimas being made that were story-based and used voice acting or subtitles, instead of music videos. I don't care what races they feature as long as the story is good.
