Patch 3.3.3 PTR patch notes updated

- Death Knights: Icy Talons: The personal haste benefit provided by this talent is no longer exclusive with other sources of melee haste. This will allow death knights to always swing 4/6/12/16/20% faster when Frost Fever is applied. Windfury Totem and the party/raid component of Improved Icy Talons still do not stack.
- Hunters: Ferocious Inspiration: This ability is now an aura and provides 1/2/3% damage to all party or raid members within 100 yards and boosts the damage of Steady Shot by 3/6/9%.
- Engineering: The Pet Bombling and Lil' Smoky non-combat pets are no longer Bind-on-Pickup.
Dungeons and Raids
World Event Bosses
- Holiday bosses (such as Ahune for the Fire Festival) will now be accessible through the Dungeon Finder. (Note: This section is purely clarification, this change is not new to this PTR build.)
- Players must use the Dungeon Finder or speak to special holiday NPCs in the world to queue up and access these bosses.
- Upon accepting a queue for any holiday boss, the party will be ported directly to the necessary area for confronting that boss.
- The previous summoning criteria for these bosses have been removed. Players can queue up for and fight each World Event boss as many times as they want for any standard loot that they may drop.
- All rare holiday items (such as The Horseman's Reins) will have a chance of being found in holiday-themed loot troves which will drop once for each player in the party no more than once per day, in the same manner that doing the Random Dungeon daily quest will provide a specific reward the first time it is completed in a day.
- Chains of Ice: The ability now innately applies Frost Fever to a target.

/Specs back into Icy Talons
catharsis80 Feb 24th 2010 5:56PM
This.

/specs back into DW frost. No... unholy. No... DW frost...
Dammit!
WTB triple specs.
MightyMuffin Feb 24th 2010 5:04PM
So...why are they buffing BM damage? I thought its been clarified that they didn't want BM to be one of the "raid viable" specs. I'm not saying its bad, I'm just curious as to why they are buffing it. Good for the BM raiders that still exist...but if Blizzard is against having BM as a top competetive spec...why buff it? Maybe give a hunter buff to all specs not just BM.
nikdaheratik Feb 24th 2010 5:08PM
I think they're not buffing the damage, but making it a flat aura, like they are doing with many other talents, partly in an effort to reduce the number of combat messages sent out on the server. Though if it is a boost, it could also have to do with pvp.
Artificial Feb 25th 2010 1:48AM
You contradict yourself, I think. There's a difference between not wanting it to be a top spec, and not wanting it to be raid viable. They've never said they don't want it to be raid viable.

Yay more warrior green stuff

@ Hollow Leviathan
"Unrelated, glad to see a buff to Boomkins, even if it is just bland upscale of their main nuke."
they're buffing starFALL, not starFIRE. I'm very happy to see that get a damage boost. now i'll definitely be sure to pop that every minute lol...

More engineers pets to sell?
awesome.
Eadne Feb 24th 2010 5:23PM
Now there's even less reason to be an engineer if everyone can have the pets. On the other hand, there is suddenly going to be a huge market for bomblings... engineers, you had better start crafting them en masse in anticipation of the rush!
Sleutel Feb 24th 2010 7:01PM
There are seriously people who chose the profession JUST because of the BoP pets? Seriously?
Hyacinthe Feb 24th 2010 7:49PM
Engineers should start gathering the mats en masse, but unless they want a bunch of soulbound pets, they probably shouldn't actually MAKE them until the patch hits.

It may look like only a couple changes to Frost, but those changes, ESPECIALLY combined with Icy Touch now dealing high threat, vastly changes DK frost tank specs and glyphs. I just worked out a whole new spec from this:

to this:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#j0EZhxxxAbIzf0buzAo0x:amdMmV
Can't wait to test and tweak it to see which has more threat.

That's what I'm looking at myself, for heroic tanking (sticking with blood for raids I think). Trying to find space for more in Acclimation since I find that's where a lot of my damage is taken from.
catharsis80 Feb 24th 2010 5:40PM
Something I see our new builds have in common: no epidemic. If Icy Touch is "very" high threat now (http://ptr.wowhead.com/?spell=49909), then I have no problem reapplying my diseases more frequently with a VERY high threat attack. This sounds awesome. Two more points to work with AND potentially more threat. However, it DOES sacrifice OB's (and I was using the 20% more glyph), but I'll be doing a lot of testing to figure out which is better.
disdrgfreak Feb 24th 2010 6:13PM
I love the IT buff; it greatly increases the viability of Frost raid tanks (which quite frankly are very few), while keeping Frost DKs' massive AoE threat the same. Bravo Blizz.
@those who'll argue IT is better for AoEing, it's only single target, so pestilence won't generate threat.
OT: I feel like I'm the only DK with GoHB for Heroics.
catharsis80 Feb 24th 2010 8:07PM
I used to use GoHB for heroics, but I keep the same spec for raiding and 5-mans. I am one of the few frost tanks. Not sure why. It's been great for me so far. I plan on doing a blood or unholy spec as well for certain fights.
Ironically I started tanking as blood and decided I liked frost much more.
catharsis80 Feb 24th 2010 8:08PM
Oh, and I have no threat problems. (Not sure if that's one of the arguments against Frost or not.)
disdrgfreak Feb 24th 2010 9:10PM
Eugh, wow.com ate my comment. >_>
Basically, if a DK tank has two fast tank weapons and 30+ expertise skill, they will receive about as many parry-hasted attacks as a warrior with one fast weapon and 26 expertise. (http://pwnwear.com/2009/09/22/3-22-death-knight-dual-wield-tanking/)
Parry-hasting is in fact, not much of an issue anyways in ICC. Most bosses have it turned off. (http://pwnwear.com/2010/02/11/parry-haste-confirmed-to-be-mostly-off-in-icecrown-citadel/)
Also, Frost generated 6.7% more tps than Blood did, in a test run by Gravity. (http://pwnwear.com/2009/09/22/3-22-death-knight-dual-wield-tanking/) Might be outdated though.
I apologize if my stupid comment goes through twice.

At last, a Bombling of my very own (hearts and flowers fly around)
