Patch 3.3.3 PTR: Random dungeons are being watched

- Kicked in LFG (follower) (hidden) - Number of times the player kicked someone in LFG, voting, but not initiating
- Kicked in LFG (target) (hidden) - Number of times the player has been kicked by someone in LFG
- Kicked in LFG (initiator) (hidden) - Number of times the player kicked someone in LFG, initiating the kick
- Abandoned LFG (hidden) - Number of times the player abandoned an LFG dungeon
- Completed LFG (hidden) - Number of times the player completed an LFG dungeon
I have no idea what, if anything, they intend to do with this data but I'm still interested to see what develops.

If these are accessible through add-ons, we have a new method of elitism.
"noob you've only completed xx random dungeons"
I sure hope they are internal only.
Red Hawk Feb 24th 2010 8:14PM
I believe the LFG completed stat is already visible in the statistics tab/armory page
Zanathos Feb 24th 2010 8:15PM
You can already see how many dungeons someone's completed through armory.
Nazgûl Feb 24th 2010 8:17PM
That's assuring then.
nyctef Feb 24th 2010 8:28PM
I'm pretty sure Blizzard just want them internally to see how well the LFD tool is working.

"noob you've only completed xx random dungeons"
Elitist groups mod already tracks this.

No, they will only allow ppl that have initiated xx party kicks. Cause ya know, jerks love to group together.

It'd be interesting if this info could be made available to other players, or if being kicking a certain amount of times would disqualify you from using the LFG tool for an extended period of time.
LFG should be renamed LFJ:Looking for Jerks, because that's what players are using it as free reign to be, and Blizzard need to find a way to put the brakes on it a little bit.
Lute Feb 24th 2010 8:09PM
Or conversely, if you kick a lot of people, maybe you are the one to be watched. :P
james Feb 24th 2010 8:14PM
It depends, I guess. Maybe you got stuck with a sting of players who weren't pulling their weight/AFKing/ninjaing, etc.
It's anecdotal, but my personal experience has been that people get kicked for a good reason. Sure, that's not always the case, but for me, spurious kicks have been the exception rather than the rule.
Zanathos Feb 24th 2010 8:17PM
I imagine they'll be watching people at both ends of the extremes. Getting kicked a lot might mean you've been unlucky, but it probably means you're annoying to group with. Initiating a lot of kicks might mean you've had bad luck, but more likely means you get upset at the drop of a hat.

The thing is, what exactly is Blizzard going to do with this information? Issue penalties for being an overzealous kicker?
Provide counselling for the poor sap that gets the boot every time?
New Tips of the Day on the loading screens?
Looking at it I guess though, Blizzard can use the information as an accurate way of recording whether or not people are abusing the votekick system, and it can be used to determine whether or not the feature needs to change, as it will be with the kick reason coming in 3.3.3 (recurring of course?)
But aside from that, to my unenlightend view, i just don't see the value of these statistics.

It's true, as my GF said when the Dungeon Finder tool has been out a week or so, it seems that people are really quite rude because they know that most of them are not on their realm and they probably won't see them again, it throws away the friendly nature of dungeons and people are much more likely to treat others with less respect.
I believe this is down to three things:
- My above point.
- The people who are elitist and want everyone to perform to raid standard and as soon as they don't perform (ie. person is gearing up/bad day/in general might just be a bad or new player) they'll jump down that person's throat
- They're jerks, plain and simple.
It's nice Blizzard are trackin gthese things but I don't think it will change the core nature of these people who are causing problem/making DF a painful experience for others, if anything it may give the jerks another stat to holler about.

> ...what exactly is Blizzard going to do with this information?
Could it just be for our own amusement? I thought that's what most of the stuff on the stats page was for. I mean, does Blizz really care to datamine how many times I've died, for example?
loop_not_defined Feb 24th 2010 10:14PM
I have to wonder if some of these bad experiences are people only remembering "the bad times" and few of "the good times", because my jerk experiences have been VERY limited.
I'm speaking as somebody who has tanked, DPSed, and healed almost entirely with random players.

I've been in groups were they voted to kick someone at the very end to improve thier roles on the loot. I've been voted to be kicked becuase I wouldn't give water to someone who demanded water instead of asked. Too many times a vote to kick has been initiated because someone lagged behing in DPS but were appropriate for the instance, not everyone outgears the content.
Everytime a vote to kick is initiated I state who the vote is for in group chat and ask WHY? It's amazing how hard it is to be a dick when you can't be a pussy about it.

Hopefully they will realize that giving unlimited kick ability to the wrong person is asking for trouble. Gear score is only a reflection of potential and is some cases a true reflection, but some a false reflection. I had a group for halls of stone that 3 out of 4 players had blue gear scores, the tank a little better, but as a healer in mostly 264 gear I stuck with them and was actually surprised how well the did in the instance. The tank had a nice chain of pulls and handled aggro very well - a bear. All 3 dps did very well and focused on the tanks target. I was pleased with the group and think they would be fine with a lower gear score healer - I checked their dps and the tank did 2100 with all 3 dps under him but above 2000. The point of all this is that gear score means little and if you have a group of new 80's it doesn't mean that they can't play - this group could and did.

I can certainly see how this, paired with harrassment complaints and the new "reason" field you have to fill in, can become grounds for temporary bans of LFG or even the game.
Ninja afkers will usually stop if you put in a stern warning. Had to do that a couple times.
Sometimes its nothing more than lag or a DC although I have had some deliberately slacking.
Malicious kickers are the main problem I've faced, usually teamed up with guildies. They'll kick you right before the last boss to stop you from getting the daily frost badges, or kick you right before a fight with a boss they need loot from. They make it pretty obvious, asking if anybody needs that loot at the beginning and then booting the person that says they need it.

"The thing is, what exactly is Blizzard going to do with this information?"
At this point, who knows? They're still studying the impact the LFG tool has had on the game. Maybe looking at people who do more than their fair share will indicate something they can do to discourage it. Maybe they'll extend deserter debuffs if you're far over the average for abandoning dungeons. Maybe they'll automatically generate warnings over a threshold and let problem players know they have their eye on them. I have no idea what they intend to do with this information, but there's certainly not a shortage of possibilities.
Slaytanic Feb 24th 2010 8:09PM
I still hope they add the ability to let the person know WHY they are being kicked. "You have been kicked out of the dungeon because _______(hidden vote resaon)" If they don't know, they won't learn anything.
