I'd love to see more articles like these (explaining what goes on behind the curtain). I'd also like to read about when GMs make physical appearances on a server (why they would, when they have, what they do). I've seen the avatar of a GM on the official Warcraft website, but have never seen them in game.

I've only ever seen one in game. The GM was hanging around in Goldshire for some reason and was immediately mobbed by a crowd of lowbies (and 80s there for ERP) before porting off.
Since they're treated like an in-game celebrity, I guess it makes sense for them not to show up too often :)

I got to see a GM in game at the end of BC outside MGT. there were some problems with the instance so the GM hung out to inform peeps the dungeon was down- got to chat,BS, and get polly'd while gankin hoard tryin to run inside :)
