Western Plaguelands not so plagued anymore in Cataclysm

Twitter developer chatQ. With the Lich King defeated, in Cataclysm, will the Plaguelands be green and beautiful again?
A. Western Plaguelands will finally be free of the plague in Cataclysm. It's hard for the Scourge to survive without their beloved Lich King. I guess this means we need to rename the zone?

Just awesome. This is the kind of change I was hoping for in Cataclysm, to be honest -- not just earthquakes and floods, but actual passage of time and logical storyline progression post-defeat of Lordaeron's traitor prince. Wonder what this means for Scholomance or Andorhal!
But, also, what does it mean for the name? I guess Eastern Plaguelands will likely become just The Plaguelands, but what will WPL become? East Lordaeron? New Lordaeron? Or, given the zone's proximity to the zone that's basically Azeroth's armpit, they could just go with the one that makes the most sense: Pennsylvania.

I'm a native son of PA, and I approve of this attack on the hated New Jersey. I assume that's what you mean?
Cyanea Feb 26th 2010 9:27PM
I'm a native daughter of New Jersey and I resent the implication that Pennsylvania is anything but a waste of space in the United States.
You can have North Jersey though.
That place can go to hell.

NJ to the east of you. The western plaugelands of which you refer to must be the Pittsburgh area and its suburbs.
NJ is the Garden Sate. :-)

"NJ is the Garden Sate. :-)"
NJ is also the most densely populated state. They must have given NJ that nickname before the state tore up all those gardens for more highways and strip malls.

Jersey girls aren't trash.
Trash gets picked up.

Have you ever been in South Jersey? I can drive in five minutes in any direction from my parent's home and be lost in farmland. It's absolutely gorgeous.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck in *shudder* North Jersey right now for school.

Princeton/Lawrence/Hopewell/Pennington would like a word.

Whatever, Pennsyltucky.

North Jersey we know how to drive, still have all our teeth and the diners up here ARE OPEN 24 HOURS still.
Pennsylvania? That's the place you go when you die, and were very, very bad.

New Jersey's a great place, if you're driving from Washington to New York, Boston to Baltimore, or.... somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean to Hershey Park. -paraphrased from the Daily Show

PA and Jersey fighting over who's better is like watching Snooki and Jwoww fight over who's classier.

What's a Snooki?
(Wait...is that the blanket with sleeves?)

To paraphrase Miss Congeniality, New Jersey is the Garden state because Oil an Electro-petrochemical State doesn't fit on the license plate.

I guess "a new yorker" isn't aware most of the cast of jersey shore is, in fact, from new york.

"Princeton/Lawrence/Hopewell/Pennington would like a word."
I live near that area (edge of Ewing) and besides Princeton University, Arthas's plague is alive and well in that county. A crackhead wandered into my gym the other day...so of course I threw a Pyroblast at him and completed a daily quest. I'm not quite ready to do a Christie raid yet though, gotta rep grind through college first.

All this NJ vs. PA bickering has caused us to lose sight of what is really the armpit of America: Long Island.

Cyanea: I'm a native of South Jersey and I know just what you mean. My parents live in the middle of the woods. It's a wonderful area! I live in GA now, and the misconceptions about NJ are staggering. The "what exit are you from" jokes got old a few years ago, guys. Uggghhh. I get really tired of being asked stupid questions about my home state by people who've never been anywhere but the expressway.

I kinda wish they'd make progression a little more...streamline, like a little bit of something every patch
I'm not saying this isn't a good thing, but progression just over an expansion is just a little slow
Mattimus Feb 26th 2010 9:34PM
Yeah, but a lot of people move at different rates through quests and stories.
Mizzle Feb 26th 2010 10:12PM
I'm hoping they end up doing some phasing quests in the plagueland area. Like it's all nasty when you get there but you do some quests related to the death of the Lich King and it slowly phases back to a nice forest =)
