Western Plaguelands not so plagued anymore in Cataclysm

Twitter developer chatQ. With the Lich King defeated, in Cataclysm, will the Plaguelands be green and beautiful again?
A. Western Plaguelands will finally be free of the plague in Cataclysm. It's hard for the Scourge to survive without their beloved Lich King. I guess this means we need to rename the zone?

Just awesome. This is the kind of change I was hoping for in Cataclysm, to be honest -- not just earthquakes and floods, but actual passage of time and logical storyline progression post-defeat of Lordaeron's traitor prince. Wonder what this means for Scholomance or Andorhal!
But, also, what does it mean for the name? I guess Eastern Plaguelands will likely become just The Plaguelands, but what will WPL become? East Lordaeron? New Lordaeron? Or, given the zone's proximity to the zone that's basically Azeroth's armpit, they could just go with the one that makes the most sense: Pennsylvania.

Yeah but he's all orange now. It makes all the difference.
Snuzzle Feb 27th 2010 12:14AM
But the only ones who know that are Tirion, and the players who killed him.
rawrawrawr Feb 27th 2010 12:43AM
Tirion doesn't seem to care about the new Lich King requesting that no one know his fate, seeing as how he put a great big glowing statue documenting the events in the middle of the most populous city in WoW...
Al Feb 27th 2010 1:01AM
He dodged that by transcribing it in whatever secret language the faction leaders use, since they can actually communicate across the gap. Whereas we can not.
Possum Feb 27th 2010 1:07AM
Yeah, he went out of he way to do that. I mean seriously, how much would that statue have set him back? Right in the middle of the most populated city as well. Tirion is such a bitch.

"But the only ones who know that are Tirion, and the players who killed him."
And everyone who read the plaque of a certain ugly statue in the middle of Dalaran...

I could see something with the Earthen Ring or possibly the new Guardian of Tirisfal setting up camp here to get things cleaned up...or a continuation of the Cenarion Circle stuff like The Wildlife Suffers Too.
Brimdaur Feb 26th 2010 11:44PM
And as a resident of central NJ I can corroborate the earlier sentiment: northeast Jersey is horrible, as is most of the coast, but south and central are alright in my book.
P.S. I wrote a book, it's called "South and Central Jersey Are Alright", by Brimdaur.
Possum Feb 27th 2010 1:10AM
Cenarion Circle and the Earthern Ring both already have people there. I'd say it'll be a group effort by these neutral factions. I'm certainly hoping the alliance presence isn't due to frothing at the mouth Varian leading an attack on horde lands.

Coming patch 4.1: CoT: Western Plaguelands. Just in case you missed accidentally aggroing every skeleton in Andorhal.
KT Feb 28th 2010 3:14AM
Hahahaha .... bad memories of my first Halloween trick-or-treating. "This is a high-level zone, but if I just follow the road, I should-OH HOLY CRAP SO MANY SKELETONS"
Snuzzle Feb 27th 2010 12:13AM
Well, humans being a sentimental people, and the zone being originally belonged to humans, they will probably be the ones renaming it (just for lore's sake).
It would be sweet if they named it after someone who played a major role in the downing of the Lich King, like after Tirion or Bolvar. I can't think of anything clever (Bolvarshire? Nah...) but it would be a sweet touch.
Ten bucks says they just go with something easy like "New Lordaeron" though.

I think that they should call it the Argent Crusade lands, make it a place for the argent crusade, that has nothing to complain about now that the undead are under control of a new lich king.
Kylenne Feb 27th 2010 1:03AM
Um, this article is wrong. Everyone knows the Barrens are the Jersey of WoW. All it's missing are orange colored goblins driving Monte Carlos.

I wish they would fix the Human race in Cataclysm!
How it should be:The Human race is supposed to be a multicultural underdog fending off savages!
How it is:The "Human" race is nearly 99% Caucasian underdog fending off savages!
How it should be:Some Humans are fat, skinny, built or average!
How it is:All Human males take performance enhancing drugs and were almost casted for The Jersey Shore! All the Human females lack junk in the trunk and have watermelons shoved down their shirts!
Honorable mention:Human Hairstyles speak to my first complaint why is that our choices are limited to looking like Goku or being bald? Where are the dreads? Where are the mohawks? WTB nightelf afro!
In closing:Humans aren't a reskin of Bloodelves! Humans are diverse race trying to survive in a war torn world! atleast thats how it should be.
Possum Feb 27th 2010 7:03AM
The humans of Wow are all from Northern Eastern Kingdoms. It's a pretty small area. It's surprising they have any ethnic diversity at all (perhaps people with a black skin tone in Wow have a random skin mutation which would explain why they retain caucasian facial characteristics). Also, why do you think the Humans are the underdogs? My view would be that most of the races of the Horde fit that role better, after all the Humans beat the Orcs.

"All the Human females lack junk in the trunk and have watermelons shoved down their shirts!"
Watermelons? Really? Have you ever seen a watermelon? They're pretty damn big. The human females currently in the game have pretty average sized breasts.

I'd say that nearly a decade of hard work and dyin' by my Scarlet homies helped a lot, too. You didn't see anyone else patrolling the streets of Andorhal and the farms, didja?
That's right, you didn't!

If you haven't yet done the Pamela Redpath questline in EPL, you should do it now, before it's gone forever.
