Around Azeroth: Everybody wants to be a cat
Druids are the new black -- or at least they will be in Cataclysm, when there'll finally be two more races available to people who want to play a druid, but aren't particularly keen on being a purple, pointy-eared freak or an ungainly furry. (*Ducks incoming flames.*) Kristy-Leigh loves druids so much that she'll even hang out in Moonglade just to be in the company of her brethren. When a bunch of cat druids get together, do you think they all like to sleep in the sun like real cats?
Do you have any unusual, beautiful or interesting World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see them on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. Please include the word "Azeroth" in your post so it does not get swept into the spam bin. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards, Val'kyr on mounts, or pictures of the Ninja Turtles in Dalaran. Older screenshots can be found here.

If my 3 year old brother wasnt completely obsessed with the Aristocats DVD extras I wouldnt have recognized that reference. It's been over a decade since I last watched that movie.
hurray for babies.

Obscure disney refferences hooooo!
Now, if only they would make a warlock article refferencing "Hellfire" from the hunchback of notredam...
Ringo Flinthammer Feb 27th 2010 11:27AM
I'm not sure the Aristocats are that obscure.
Wellsee Feb 27th 2010 12:48PM
Ha. I was thinking it was a reference to a live version of a 'why can't i be you' medley by the cure that had parts of Love Cats, Sinatra's 'young at heart' and this line in it. But since that line came from Aristocats, my reference it probably too obscure!

Aw, I thought it was a refrence to the song "Everybody wants to rule the world".

Hate to point this out, but Trolls do have a purple-ish hue and pointy ears, and the Worgen have a bit of a fur to them as well.
Possum Feb 27th 2010 7:11PM
Jungle trolls are actually covered in fur as well. So 3/4 races that can be druids are furry.
Marshall Feb 27th 2010 9:25PM
I was going to say something along those lines as well. So, instead of "being a purple, pointy-eared freak or an ungainly furry", you could be a green or purple, pointy-eared freak or a full-time or part-time ungainly furry.

I've been known to hang out in moonglade just for the heck of it. We have secret druid parties there sometimes.

Clearly dwarf shamans will become the most popular new combo
Joe Feb 27th 2010 11:11AM
/agreed
I deleted my level 20 shaman alt when I found out about dwarf shamans.
Aedilhild Feb 27th 2010 11:45AM
If we can decorate characters with Wildhammer markings, it's all over.
Possum Feb 27th 2010 7:54PM
It's going to be lame but I'm betting the Dwarf shammies are just going to be Ironforge dwarves taught by a Wildhammer trainer. :(

Have they released any models yet for the worgen cat forms yet?
If not, WTB wolf form instead of cat form... would fit a worgen better.
RedGuard Feb 27th 2010 11:17AM
Love it. I remember Aristocats over and over when I was younger :D

I long for the days of vanilla WoW where alliance and horde druids all had a silent agreement to not attack each other even on PvP servers
I still try and abide by that unless they hit me first or are in a BG
Ringo Flinthammer Feb 27th 2010 11:28AM
Assuming worgen druid forms will be various wolves, instead of cats and bears, I'm planning on playing a worgen feral druid, myself.
Hopefully Moonglade gets a big makeover as well, and is comparable to Archerus and Dalaran, rather than being a lame night elf town.

"but aren't particularly keen on being a purple, pointy-eared freak or an ungainly furry."
In fact, it's just that each faction will get the option of playing the other's kind of druid race. Except that Hordies' pointy-eared freaks will be blue, and Allies' furries will be more gangly than ungainly....

I really hope the Tauren forms get some love in Cataclysm. My Tauren druid rarely comes out of cat or bear form because she's just so ugly. WTB a higher polygon count!
