Breakfast Topic: Would you like some heroic with your vanilla instances?

It's already been confirmed that both Shadowfang Keep and Deadmines will be made heroic, mostly for their own story purposes. This poses an interesting thought -- what other instances could be made heroic, and why? Since we know that Desolace is going to be green and lush, maybe they'll do something with Maraudon? (I'm not sure who would want to see Princess Theradras again, but hey.) Perhaps a heroic Blackfathom Deeps, considering that the Twlilight's Hammer is making such a big comeback in the next expansion? Or hey, why not even a heroic Razorfen Downs? Why? Why not, I say!
So, dear readers - what old world instances should be given the heroic upgrade, and why? Personally, I think I'd rather stick hot pokers in my eyes than see a heroic Wailing Caverns, but that's just me.

Heroic Scarlet M. would be awesome. Complete with a higher level Herods Shoulder.
ScorchHellfire Feb 28th 2010 8:16PM
This. A thousand times this!
Kaleo Feb 28th 2010 8:08AM
Well, with the addition of the two new Blackrock Mountain raid/dungeons, I wouldn't be surprised to see heroic versions of some of the 5 mans in the zone.
Also, the Scarlett Monistary dungeons have always been popular, so I'd expect to see them make a return in some way, shape or form.
Camo Feb 28th 2010 8:27AM
That would be cool but I'm afraid that those instances might be gone when Blackrock Mountain changed. :\
Eternauta Feb 28th 2010 10:02AM
No, they won't be gone.

What I'd like to see: Heroic Maraudon. That place is so beautiful I run through it again every so often to see it once more. Perhaps Heroic Dire Maul since I never really ran it at level, would be interesting to try it out.
What I DON'T want to see: Heroic Blackrock Depths...the return of four hour 5-mans is hopefully not in WoW's future. Heroic Uldaman, that place always pissed me off.
What I wouldn't mind seeing: Heroic Sunken Temple. It's a beautiful place, but it can get really confusing if you haven't been there for a while and don't have a map...

Couldn't have said it better.
Except that maybe really long heroics wouldn't be such a bad thing. I'd be all for some kind of end-game content for 1 or 5 people. They'd probably just have to keep them out of the dungeon finder and consider the more challenging and time-consuming instances to be mini raids.

If they were going to do heroic BRD, I imagine they'd split it up into at least two seperate wings anyway.
Devote Feb 28th 2010 8:11AM
Heroic maraudon anyone? :P
Anathemys Feb 28th 2010 11:02AM
No
In fact, there aren't a lot of old-world instances I'd like to see come back. My most vivid memory of old-world dungeons is Blackrock Depths... *Shiver*
Seriously, if they do make heroics out of old dungeons, I hope it's just the real low-level ones, like SM, WC (HEAVY SARCASM), Scholomance, maybe even Ragefire Chasm... Just please, not Maradon or WC...
Swifteye Feb 28th 2010 11:32AM
@Anathemys
How is Scholomance any lower-level than Maraudon? I thought Scholo was high 50's and Mara was high 40's-low 50's.
Forgive me if I sound like a smartass; I'm not trying to make fun of you, I'm just a) wondering if I have *my* facts mixed up, or b) curious about which instance you were thinking about/meaning, if "Scholo" was a misspeak (mistype, whatever).
Bryan Dare Feb 28th 2010 11:53AM
Yes, Scholomance is high 50s.
And yes to Maraudon. I love that place! So beautiful and so helpful for me back in the day when I needed money for my lvl 60 mount. =) Some of my fondest memories of WoW come from soloing Marau. Now Theradras... that's another story. =\
Anathemys Mar 21st 2010 8:11PM
Ok, so I thought of Scholo after I typed "low-level" and forgot to go back and change it.
Thank you invisible edit button that doesn't exist...

Intially, I was thinking about a heroic stormwind stockaid, but then thought that this could be a goodtime to develop the other instance portal in stormwind. I think it was called the stormwind vault or something.
paul Feb 28th 2010 8:50AM
There are another 2 instance portals in SW. There is one with a hge gate infront of it, near the canals, which obviously holds something of great size and danger, and would need the bravest heroes to take down.
The other is like the stocks, but surrounded by water. Maybe something extremely dangerous, but scared to hell of water?
BEWARE OF THE EVUL KITTIES!
Stevocurrie@gmail.com Feb 28th 2010 10:27AM
Yeah, I was chilling in SW the other day and a was running the the pvp room and noticed a random elite in the canal next to the instance thing between the FP and pvp room. Idk if it's related, but i'v always wondered what was in there
RedGuard Feb 28th 2010 10:57AM
Both of those were supposed to be the Stormwind Vault I think.

"Somewhat bizarrely, the barred instance portal said to be the entrance to the yet-to-be-implemented player housing appears to be on the opposite side of the wall from the moat. " http://www.wowwiki.com/Stormwind_City
This is referring to the large portal Paul mentioned, but for some reason i dont think blizzard will be adding player/guild housing anytime soon. But, the portal is there for a reason, an instance is a possibility.
as for the vaults, I think they would be a good place for an instance similar to the stockades, but with imprisoned twilight hammer cultists instead of the defias inmates.
Kaz Feb 28th 2010 7:14PM
@Helt
If The Vault were to be implemented it would hold something much stronger then your run-in-the-mill cultist. Probably something like rouge Arch-mages, powerful demons summoned by over zealous warlocks, creatures from the elemental planes, insane dragons, etc.
Basically, anything that is too powerful for either the Stockade or to be out right killed goes there. (Kind of like a Stormwind Supermax).

Blackrock Depths of course. As a TBC player I have spent far too less time here and have lately only been able to catch up with some quality time in this dungeon through the random dungeon tool, even though it's still faceroll-mode with the current type of character-abilities. The sheer size of this place is amazing and it would be great to just be able to spend an evening in this place on off-raid nights (5 players). Since I suppose revamping the place isn't nearly as much work as creating a complete new instance, this would be a salute to all the developers that have put work into desiging the original.
