Dance Studio still "on the list," say developers
Still, the question comes up from time to time, and it came up again during the recent Twitter developer chat. The developers answered that it's still on the list of things to do, so it appears it hasn't been completely abandoned. They also mentioned that they always start expansions with more than they can do and prioritize from there.
This, of course, brings up another question all on its own: What can we expect to be late in Cataclysm? Should the developers really announce things they don't think they'll have time to implement? Of course, it's part and parcel of the MMO game that features are pushed back a patch or two, but after over a year, there might be a time limit on how long you can be expected to wait. Still, I'm all for more character customization, so I'm glad it's not completely abandoned. With any luck, maybe we'll finally see it before patch 5.0.

delays, what can you do? If they delay it then there's always a reason for it.

This gets a solid "meh" from me; the only dance I care much about is the moonkin dance. I'm not really looking forward to idiots having the ability to take off all their clothes and crotch grind in the middle of Dalaran; there's enough naked nelf dancing as it is.
With that said, I am kinda looking forward to seeing the Worgen dance animation (and if Goblin dancing isn't breakdancing, something is wrong with the world).

Technically, Goblin dancing already is breakdancing.
If you get the Goblin disguise at Halloween, and dance, they sort of breakdance.

The Goblin flightmaster in Ratchet is showing off the goblin dance, in case you don't feel like waiting another eight months appx. for next Halloween... :)

This is exactly why it's not gonna happen. Not unless they can make it so people cant hump things, which would be impossible.
Think about the idiots who spam Anal [Whatever] all day, now think about them running around in their skivvies and humping everyone and everything in sight.
Then think about the 6 o clock news reaction.
"Your KIDS are using a popular VIDEO GAME to simulate SEX, on the INTERNET! We'll tell you which one after weather and sports."
Blizz doesnt want or need that kind of negative press.

Right, because Blizzard clearly wouldn't cheap out and just give us the other races dance-moves.
You know, just like they did with the "New hairstyles".

I'm chime in with a meh as well about the dance studio. Now, special trainers that let you change your casting animations... THAT would be more interesting.

That video is awesome!

I recall seeing this video a while ago. It's really intriguing to see what real life models the developers used to create the dance moves for our digital counterparts (some of those real life models I have never seen before). However, this is the first time I have ever heard of any type of "dance studio/battle" mechanic being implemented in any form to the game.
Can anyone post a link to specifics about this? How would it even work?
Draelan Feb 28th 2010 3:05PM
Um... you must have misread the post. The Dance Battle was Blizzard's APRIL FOOLS joke last year. It's no more real then the "Bard Class" joke they had the year before. =)

I think we all agree that nobody really cares that much about dance studios, seeing as how it has virtually no impact on gameplay, but it still feels like they owe it to us to get it done since it was one of the first features of Wrath that they advertised.
MazokuRanma Feb 28th 2010 2:55PM
This is pretty much how I feel about them. Sure, they said we'd get them, and so we should at some point, but pretty much every possible other change they've mentioned I can think of I would rather have priority. Knowing it's been pushed back in favor of actual content is fine by me.
Snuzzle Feb 28th 2010 5:53PM
Some of us do care, actually, we're quite sick of our dances/casting animations or never quite liked them to begin with.
RogueJedi86 Mar 1st 2010 3:21AM
Achievements have virtually no impact on gameplay either, but they've still become the essential thing to do since they debuted. Sure you can get titles and mounts and pets from it, but we could get all of them before achievements too. Just because it has no gameplay impact doesn't mean it's not fun.
But I do agree that we need dances in WotLK if only because they were promised in the very first WotLK trailer.

Why is the Ogre doing the moonkin dance?
