Release me is an interesting bit of machinima. It's the work of Nagrandify, who isn't exactly new to moviemaking. I'll admit I'm not as familiar with her work as I'd like to be, but I'll be working to pick up my familiarity after enjoying this video. It's a music-based piece that breaks from the norm by focusing on a draenei and a human. The pairing is enjoyable, especially since it's not one you see very often.
I had trouble fully understanding the story of Release me. I definitely got the hint that there was some kind of romantic trouble, but the details were fairly obscure to me. The ending was a little strange, too. I guess the draenei was "released" to become a dragon, and thus toasted her ex-lover? I don't know, I could be trying to read too much into it.
I enjoyed Nagrandify's music choice. The song was interesting and seemed to suit the imagery pretty well. And even if the story of the video was a little obfuscated, the imagery was solid and intriguing. Great job!

Not sure what else to say. The story seemed pretty clear to me, and if you listen to the lyrics it tells it all. Look at the clothing choices and emotes being used. It all comes together very nicely.
Girl in an abusive relationship with a bad guy. Girl tries to sneak away but guy won't let her go. Girl does what she has to do to be free.
Statistically, there are more good machinima vids set to music than there are actual "movies". I put emphasis on "good" here, because thats what they tend to show on MovieWatch; not the bad ones with horrible voiceacting, little to no plot, excessive gratuitous swearing, etc. So... If we see more music vids, so what? It just means that there are more out there.
I like the symbolism in the video--girl trying to break free from an abusive relationship, and finally getting far enough away to find the strength she needs to do what it takes to break free. It's very nicely done, and the music was pretty.
Hmmm, are you confusing symbolism with the theme? I didn't spot any symbols throughout that, and I rarely see symbols in WoW music videos. I can't say I enjoyed it too much, but I'm glad the maker choice to spare us from another machinima-maker's take on Lady Gaga's Bad Romance and the use of belves which always seems to follow Lady Gaga music videos. I found it quite relative to the book Wuthering Heights, which I'm studying at the moment.
Uuuhm... did anyone else raise an eyebrow at the draenei when her horse died? :D Lovely ending, though.
@Khremloc ; you're right. I should watch what words I use before I've had my morning dose of caffeine and woken my brain up. ;) More like... I like the theme and the story. Only symbols I would see are in the color themes.
Though she did seem rather upset when her horse died... Almost like the slaying of the horse was the catalyst for her change.
Yeah, and I thought the saturated colour palette was pretty damn good too. Sometimes, it's the little things that can make a whole heap of difference, and hopefully people notice the colour slowly being drawn back into the world as she flies into the horizon.
And now we learn that just because a music video doesn't feature blood elves, it isn't automatically amazing.
I really liked a few of the shots- the closeups with the pink sky behind them were especially beautiful, but overall it was just sort of okay- the order of events seemed a little muddied and it wasn't particularly dependent on the music.

Horrible video. Bad music. No exceptional work of any kind. Don't throw us the everyday crap we can get on youtube. You should be showing us the decent work by movie makers who have talent.
meh, just cause I have read and never had a reason to post. Sorry but you honestly think this video is good compared to the previous stuff we have seen? I'm sorry I enjoyed all the previous work shown, but this one was terrible.
"Sorry but you honestly think this video is good compared to the previous stuff we have seen?"
Yes, I do, actually. Admittedly, it was unpolished in comparison to, say, Baron Soosdon (to name but one example), but the imagery was sound and flowed well, the camera angles intensified the feel in many places - it could have had less slow-motion, but this seemed to fit with the feel of the music.
Was it the best we've had? No. Was it the worst we've had? Oh, HELL no.
And I stated that you were trolling in that you provided NO criticism on what could have been done differently, what SPECIFICALLY you found lacking and what you would have done to FIX this - instead, you just stated that it was a piece of crap. Add to this the fact that you created your account TODAY just to state that, and I think the rest pretty well speaks for itself in this regard.

Actually, it seemed to me to be a story of an abusive relationship and she finally finds the courage and strength to break out of it.

Please, enough with the music based machinima. MOVIEwatch, not music-videowatch.

So this vid was good? You know, the only music based machinima I like was the one by wowcrendor.

However, belfless music videos are a vast improvement. :)
