Hopefully they find a way. Garrosh is just going to Leeeroy on every boss.

Too soon, way too soon.

"Hellscream's Warsong"? Come awn now, you can get more creative than a name like that.
Azairel Mar 2nd 2010 1:24PM
To all you people saying too soon and it takes away from the game. Its very simple even a caveman can turn it off( I know lame...). Don't use the buff. I am in a raiding guild. I get in 10 and 25 man icc, and have got a piece of the lich king. Some people is not that fortunate. I am glad now they are going to get a chance to see the endgame content. Some have real lives that they can't fully dedicate themselves. Now they can get to at least see the lich king fight. For you people who like a challenge tell wrynn or garrosh to get out, you don't need them. Its so simple, but yet to some has to be made complicated.

"Varian Pls go"
"NO"

I wish they gave you options in the dialog to say "meet us on the gunship" or other specific locations every 2-4 bosses. Then you could make it hard at the beginning (so people aren't falling asleep on their keyboards), and get his help for the fights you haven't mastered yet.
Also... with a buff like this, it seems like there should be some drawback to using it - you don't earn achievements, or the boss drops less/lower ilvl gear or something. Imagine taking the fights with the buff, getting ups that maybe aren't as big as you like, but still ups... then removing the buff when you've learned the fight and are geared for it, and getting even better ups.
Without a drawback, the only reason to turn the buff off is personal pride.

Doesn't look like it'll cap out at 35%, it'll be capping out at 30%, I'd think, seeing as that's what they said, and seeing as the page you linked only has buffs up 30% (7 buffs, yes, but the last one just says "For the Alliance!", there isn't a 35% one). ;)
Sandslice Mar 2nd 2010 3:40PM
I checked the wowhead notes on that one. The "Strength of Wrynn" that says "For the Alliance!" is Varian's aura at Battle of Undercity (compare Warchief's Blessing, Song of Sylvanas, Improved Brilliance Aura.)
Hellscream's Warsong, in a similar fashion, is also the name of the buff you receive at the end of the Hero of the Mag'har (Greatmother Geyah, Thrall in Nagrand) chain.
Thus, wowhead describes only six ICC buffs per side: 30% cap indeed. :)

Question: Has anyone on Horde done this yet? I am wondering if there's any foreshadowing of Cataclysm since it is Hellscream's Warsong and not Thrall's Warsong.
JC_Icefox Mar 2nd 2010 2:10PM
Not likely. The Warsong Offensive is technically not led by Thrall himself. Garrosh is the Honcho 'running' the Horde operations in Northrend under the banner of Orgrimmar and the Horde as a whole.
Admittedly, Saurfang Sr. Is really the one at the controls behind the scenes for most of the expansion, but he let's Garrosh have his moment.
Personally, I would've rather seen a Saurfang's Warcry buff, but that probably would've been overpowered what with the 'Stare at the bosses until they just kill themselves' bonus.

When the buffs go to full stacks (35%) will we be able to choose lower stacks? IE 5,10,15%? Cause if you need the 35% for the lich king fight, odds are you would have to ween your raid off the buff. You couldn't go 35% one week, then 0% the next. Going from 35->25->....->0 would be ideal.

This has always bothered me, too.
Look at the news. You will see "King Albert" and "King Harald" in mentions of the Belgian and Norwegian thrones. The Victorian era was named after "Queen Victoria," not "Queen Guelph."
blackone Mar 2nd 2010 2:28PM
Is this really effecting hard mode as well? I mean, isn't hard mode supposed to be, you know, hard?
Kylenne Mar 2nd 2010 3:20PM
No, no, no. /sigh
There is no standard way for addressing all aristocracy everywhere and never has been. There are different rules and different standards that vary wildly by historical period, culture, and system of peerage. The HRH vs. Majesty distinction comes squarely from the British system and does not exist everywhere.
This is a fallacy perpetuated by people who read too many high fantasy novels and really needs to stop.

"There are different rules and different standards that vary wildly by historical period, culture, and system of peerage."
I don't know anything about all that. But I'm pretty sure it varies by fictional planet.
Methuus Mar 2nd 2010 3:24PM
Here's my wish, that you could ask the Ashen Verdict to clear out the trash for you.
My raid team is pretty much done with Ashen Verdict rep, and the trash epic drops haven't been frequent enough for us to care, and the trash fights are boring (just tank and aoe for us now).
Maybe at the start, if your rep with Ashen Verdict is exalted, Tirion says something like "Our position in Icecrown is much stronger now, I can spare men to handle the Lich King's lesser minions." And the npcs run out and kill all the trash. Or at least the trash up to Saurfang. (Optional, of course.)

We were extending our raid lockout from last week to get more attempts on Sindragosa. Does anyone know if Varian will be there to give us the buff or will we just have to reset the raid and start fresh?
nelfer Mar 2nd 2010 3:55PM
I think this is a GREAT idea. Guilds that are struggling won't give up due to endless wipes and frustration; guilds that want to be considered hard-core can bypass the option.
Best idea since...well...realm-wide LFG. If Blizz can implement realm-wide 10-mans life will be perfect!
Jaq Mar 2nd 2010 4:33PM
Well, I am glad to know Azeroth is part of Earth and thereby bound to our rules of how to address royalty!
Hang on a minute...
Or to put it simpler: lighten up, Francis.
amesgdg Mar 2nd 2010 4:45PM
Well, I'd rather do ICC without the buff (for more personal pride purposes), but my GM is very much for it. I hope we at least go back and down all the bosses without the buff at some point, though.
