Bornakk -- PvP to PvE Realm Conversion: DarrowmereAs part of our continued efforts to balance the World of Warcraft player population across all realms, we will be converting one of our lower-population PvP realms – Darrowmere -- to a Normal PvE realm. For players on Darrowmere, we will be offering Free Character Moves to alternate PvP realms both before and for several weeks after the conversion takes place. This will allow us to continue to support healthy communities on the realms and help new players transition easily into the community.
The conversion will take place on Tuesday, March 9, with the Character Moves opening on March 3 and lasting until April 6. Upon being converted to Normal PvE, Darrowmere will be given the "New Players" flag to ensure an influx of players over the coming weeks.
The following are the destination realms for Free Character Moves off of Darrowmere:
Alterac Mountains of the Nightfall battlegroup is an Eastern time zone realm

So Darrowmere gets a forced change and for all the guilds that enjoy pvp and are getting relocated get to just eat it on the 11k or something it takes to get all the tabs and such, right?....thanx blizz
Portals Mar 3rd 2010 11:23PM
Where in the blue did you read that guilds were being forced to move? Vote by playing another game.
Sleutel Mar 3rd 2010 11:25PM
While I can understand the reason for the change, I think it would be nice for Blizz to offer free gbank upgrades for any full guilds that make the move after a fundamental realm change like this, the same way they offer talent point refunds after a patch that fundamentally changes talent trees.
Jay Mar 4th 2010 1:58AM
portals surely you realise that a PvP guild on that realm who wished to move to a new PvP realm will cease to exist as a guild?
Their bank, all those tabs costing upwards of 10,000g won't be moved.
So, although the blue didn't say that guilds would be forced to move it can safely be expected that this is required.
Or you could all arrive ont he new server and remain guildless I guess.
Blizz should offer a way to move htem, or refund the gold to the GL or offer a credit on new tabs.

You can pve fine on a pvp realm. Unless you mean ganking.
Darias.Perenolde Mar 4th 2010 8:18AM
Not to mention, there's a decent possibility that your name might not exist on the new server. Darias is a name I've used in gaming since...well...I started gaming. However, if friends invite me to their server, "Darias" (with an A or a U) is quite often taken. That kind of thing is only going to add to the frustration.
bountyhunterah Mar 3rd 2010 11:35PM
LOL, Vashj gets some influx... I seem to recall a few players moving from our server to darrowmere... at least one of my former guilds did (yeah a whole Guild).
Starrver Mar 3rd 2010 11:39PM
So in order to stay on a pvp realm we're being forced to transfer....thats bs! My entire guild is moveing cuz of this because we all like being on a pvp realm, so now what happens to all the money we dumped in it? We just get screwed cuz blizz decides to change our realm? I don't want to farm up gold for another guild and not to mention the rl money I spent xfering toons to this server. This is a bumm move blizz and I for one am very unhappy.
Nunya Mar 3rd 2010 11:37PM
i didn't mean that guilds are forced to move im sorry, but for those that do move because of this get the shaft gold wise.
@sleutel
now see that is what I'm talking about! That is just what would make this kind of change go smooth, just so players don't have to lose out is all.
Terrant Mar 4th 2010 7:09AM
I agree in principle, but I have a suspicion that practically transferring guild status and banks would be practically problematic. What if some members of your guild transfer to one PvP server, some to another, and yet others stay? Would you have three guilds, all with a full set of bank tabs? On the other hand, if they made everyone in your guild transfer to the same place, what if one player, at the last minute, decides he doesn't want to go? Blizz says they have to hold out until everyone moves, but Joe the Hunter is staying put on Darrowmere with the guild affiliation and the bank tabs and you can't /gkick him because you've already moved elsewhere.
Frankly, though, I think this move by Blizzard isn't very intelligent. How can they expect anyone to roll one of of the many low-pop PvP servers? Everyone will be worried theirs will be the next to be transformed into a PvE server.
Hoggersbud Mar 4th 2010 8:10PM
Sell your guild. You won't get all of it back, but you might get something.
Calebe Mar 4th 2010 12:01AM
Welcome to the gang guys - and like u said no support for guild moves. We have just been screwed in the same way. Good PvP realm we had paid to get to on a good battle group. Then we are told our server will be changed to PvE and we will be getting the noob players. Ah and to top it off Blizz gave us a load of **** servers on different battle groups.
Gothia Mar 4th 2010 2:17AM
The server is unbalanced in favor of 80 Horde 3 to 1, not a very good PvP server if you are on the bitter end of the imbalance. So I take it your "Good PvP" means when your have an overwhelming advantage?
Edge Mar 4th 2010 3:37PM
And he also takes it to mean a PvE server is a newb server. He's gotta be on the 3 side of that 3:1 imbalance.
Ryan Mar 4th 2010 3:06AM
I play on Darrowmere. Most of the people on this server are either PVE players (e.g. raiding) or competitive PVPers (BGs, Arena, WG). The only people who'll miss this change are those into world ganking. I never liked being ganks or ganking someone else. To me it felt dishonorable. I welcome the change, esp with Cataclysm on the way.
Axolotl Mar 4th 2010 8:21AM
The same PVP to PVE change already has killed Vek'Nilash (good luck trying to find a raid on it now)
We have six more days to get off, so better sell those last netherweave bags and get to zenedar, which is now known as Vek'Nilash 2
Too bad "greedy goblin" is doing an alliance PVP-thingy or I would've joined his idea, I love ganking
(it's a huge boost to my ego that someone would try to get away from me eight hours on end :-D )
Mr. Crow Mar 4th 2010 8:56AM
Paid guild transfers will likely be a new feature released with Cataclysm. Given the increased importance of keeping the guild together, it would make sense to offer such a service for guilds that want to get themselves a new experience. However, given the amount of additional work involved and potential problems (what if a guild on the destination realm has the same name? who switches? What's the cost for a guild name change as an individual service?) we can expect that this paid service would be something in the hundreds of dollars.
Mr. Crow Mar 4th 2010 8:57AM
Right, don't know why that wasn't a reply to something else... whoops...
Zach Asay Mar 4th 2010 11:30AM
How does one find out what time zone the realms are?
Aaron Mar 4th 2010 11:59AM
Google. :P
www.wowrealmstatus.net will give you more realm info than you'll ever need.
