The Queue: A poll

Let's take a poll today.

| Are so-so |
Zayd asked...
"Assuming you leave your toon in a city or inn how long does it take to get fully rested?"
You need to be logged off for 10 days total real time in a city or an inn to get to the maximum 150% rested. If you are logged off outside of a city or inn, you need to be logged off for 40 days to reach the maximum.
Joja asked...
"I jumped on the PTR over the weekend to try out the new subtlety rogue changes (which rock btw) and while in Ratchet in route to a gankfest in Stormwind (via Booty Bay) I noticed the old familiar cry of "The Crossroads is under attack." Thinking I would try out my new improved gankery skills on whomever was messing with my good friend Mankrik (I mean the guy's been through enough already) I rode to crossroads only to run smack into a great big glowing red floating obelisk of doom surrounded by Silithids and level 16 and 20 elite mobs! Right on the road between Ratchet and Crossroads! Does anyone have any clue what this is all about? Is this a patch 3.3.3 Cataclysm precursor on the PTR that no one is talking about?"
That's part of the old AQ world event. The gates were not opened on the PTR, so the event was going on for a short time.
Beruza asked...
"If I want to start a new account (for my wife) do I have to buy all three games again for her? Or is there a way to start a new account another way?"
If your wife is going to play through all the content into Wrath, then yes, you'll need to purchase all three games. You can also by the first two games in the battle chest for a discounted price. Recruit-a-friend is another option, one where you can get a nice mount out of the deal.
Velutina asked...
"I'm running Firefox with NoScript. What scripts do I need to allow to see the tooltips on linked items on Wow.com?"
First, good for you that you're running NoScript. Everyone should. You may need to allow wowhead.com scripts, if you don't already.
Second, the tooltips should be working now. There were some internal issues that were preventing them from working, but they've been corrected.

I got a little too excited when I thought the poll was asking for feedback on your Cataclysm Stat and System articles and not the changes themselves.
Travieso Mar 3rd 2010 3:31PM
I really didn't care for the stat change articles. Was it really necessary to have about 15 articles that all said the same thing?
Drakkenfyre Mar 3rd 2010 4:35PM
Last few articles have been like this.
"Post about changes"
"15 posts about the changes"
"Post about all the changes again"
Then
"Post about changes"
"Posts about each individual change"
I am not trying to criticize, but I think people are getting tired of seeing so many posts about the changes that are in one post.
CM Mar 3rd 2010 4:41PM
As much as I appreciate the writers on this blog the glut of stat change articles was a bit much. Maybe it would have been better to do one article for casters, one article for melee and maybe one each for tanking and healing.
Radar Mar 3rd 2010 5:23PM
If there was just a caster article they might accidentally mention warlocks in a good light. I don't want that in my mage articles.
Dboy Mar 3rd 2010 5:47PM
Just because wow.com releases it, doesn't mean you are compelled to read it.
There's something to be said about discretionary reading. What does it matter to you if there are a few extra articles this week? Is it really worth whinging about?
Just find the article for your class and read it. Ignore the rest.
Turtell Mar 3rd 2010 5:48PM
I believe they said that the main reason for all the separate articles was for people searching on google
Drakkenfyre Mar 3rd 2010 5:58PM
Dboy, the point is that the articles lately have all been about the changes (excepting screenshots, The Queue, ect.)
There is one post about all the changes as once, as Blizzard annouces them, then an article for every single change mentioned. It's kind of redundant to post the changes two or three times. Yes, someone might not read the "all-over" article, and may read one of the individual ones, what they are saying is we don't need a post about the changes initially, then a recap, then a recap for every single person.
PeeWee Mar 3rd 2010 6:12PM
A single article with "How the System and Stat Changes might effect your character" and have a single article with tags for each class name, build name etc. would have been found in Google just as well. Looks like mere milking more ad loads.
galestrom Mar 3rd 2010 6:50PM
Yep, this week has had me perusing other sites for less repeat info. I really dig you guys, but the egregious rehashing of one blue post has been a little, well, egregious.
Vandersveldt Mar 3rd 2010 6:55PM
I don't know about you guys, but I have wow.com on an rss feed, and for the love of god YES there have been to many articles on the changes.
Kia Mar 3rd 2010 7:20PM
Good lord, agreed. Seeing all of these start articles on my RSS has been ridiculous. Enough is enough already!
Faulken S Wulf Mar 3rd 2010 7:26PM
I think they should have done it like patch and event notes.
One article, that then links to all the seperate articles.
Article Name: Cat Stat and System Changes
Content:
Overview of The Changes
Class Changes (10 link, one for each class, then each class could have been a 3 page article, each page for a talent tree.)
Extra information relevant to the changes (Auctionhouse/Economy, Futuring Gearing/Profession Concerns, Speculation, etc)
Dboy Mar 3rd 2010 8:41PM
And they say the WoW community is characterised by incessant QQing...
Pah!
Phaelan Mar 4th 2010 9:38AM
I'm going to hijack this for a second simply because it'll get buried on page 90 otherwise.
You can do Both Recruit a Friend AND the Battle Chest. Send your wife/self/whoever you're trying to Recruit, they get the 10 day free trial. Go buy the Battle Chest, use the Code on there to upgrade the account. Bam! free mount, 3x XP, and Free Levels (make sure that the New account uses the gift levels at 60, NOT 61 or you'll lose all you're levels). I've done RAF 2x now and it's a blast. have fun with it.
Alanid Mar 3rd 2010 2:05PM
"big glowing red floating obelisk of doom"
Made my day
Daniel Mar 3rd 2010 2:11PM
Missing poll option.
"Too soon to tell".
Really, it IS too soon to tell. We have no context for the changes.,
devilsei Mar 3rd 2010 2:21PM
Yeah, otherwise I said so-so.
I can't say that I'm excited about the tiered hit-rating idea, cause honestly, it seems to make up for Blizzard finally removing the obnoxious weapon skill system. A flat hit rating cap is nice, having multiple ones means having to constantly ask over and over about what the new rating is.
Besides, if T11 boss needs 300 hit, and T14 Boss needs 500, thats an extra 200 hit wasted in gear. There was a short time in WotLK where my pally was close to 450hit, and I hated it, but it was luck of the draw with me for gear.
Hendrata Mar 3rd 2010 2:33PM
But the same argument can be made now when you're running heroics. Most dps-ers who raid regularly are at or near the hitcap, and suddenly they're using that gear to kill level 82 mobs. That's wasted itemization, no?
You might say: but that's different, because heroics are easy while raids are not.
Yes, it's the same. When you're at the gear capable of doing T14 content, T11 is easy and the wasted itemization shouldn't bother you that much. Imagine if, all the Naxxramas bosses today are changed to level 82. That means we'll all be over hit-capped when we run Naxxramas, but it doesn't matter. Overcap or not, it's easy with TOC and ICC gear.
devilsei Mar 3rd 2010 3:10PM
Eh, its a difference of about 1-2 levels though, because as far as I know, raid bosses aren't given an extra boost in avoidance beyond the raid tag. The difference in needed hit rating thus isn't exactly a mile-wide gap between heroic boss and raid boss.
But we have no idea just what kind of gap these tiered bosses in Cataclysm will have. For all we know, they might be planning on making it 300 for T11, 400 for T12, and so on.
And, I know its just me, but that kind of disparity in numbers really bugs me. From heroic to raid? Small difference so it doesn't bug me. But that huge difference in numbers would annoy the hell out of me, mainly because knowing Blizzard, it won't be that clean of a difference. T11 might just need 298, but T12 could need 403, or T13 needing 549.
The system as is, is perfectly fine. No need to go and try and fix what isn't broken, and end up making it a huge mess. Just like what happened with Badges during the current expansion.
