The only actual Warcraft novel I've read was Arthas, by Christie Golden. I enjoyed it. My exposure to Knaak's writing consists solely of the Sunwell Trilogy manga, and those make me a bit nervous of the quality of his work... There were some good points in that series, but they were interspersed with points that were so bad I physically cringed. "Oh no! My parents are dead! /cry! /sob! /anguish! Oh look! An egg from the ruins of my home that is hatching into a weird dragony thing! Now everything is ALL BETTER." (Sadly, not an exaggeration.) OVERALL, I'd say that series was fine. It's not a series I'd go out of my way to recommend to people, but I wouldn't vehemently warn someone away from it, either. But, I think I will still pick up Stormrage for my birthday and give it a shot. I'll also be ordering a Wyvern plushie, so even if the book's a flop I'll have something adorable and cuddly to make up for it. ^^
