I used to use Auctioneer, until I found AuctionLite. Yeah, it doesn't have all the same features, but it has scanning and posting interfaces, and that's all I really used anyway. And the big thing I prefer is that it doesn't take 45 minutes to do a scan like Auctioneer used to (no joke there). Usually scans finish in under a minute, sometimes they'll take a few, and only if I do scans faster than every 15 minutes do they take about 15 minutes to complete (you can only use fast scan once every 15 minutes).

the fastforward button in auctioneer is a fastscan so it should go as fast as any other scan. the play button does the long version which takes ~20 mins on my server. As for wanting to scan the entire AH any sooner than 15 mins apart, I have no answer for that. But use what you like. I use too many of auctioneer's features to give it up. If that's all you are doing, I totally understand not wanting all the extra.

Pay attention to the fast-forward warning--scanning the whole AH in less than 3 minutes creates enormous latency which will very likely get you booted from the server, even several minutes after the scan is over, which is what just happened to me when I tried it while reading this article.
