The Daily Quest: Dungeon finder tips and tricks

Because of dungeon finder, we're all PUGging a lot more these days -- for better and for worse. Let's just say that if today's TDQ covered horrible tales from the dungeon finder, it would be ten times as long, at the very least. But fortunately for all of us, WoW-bloggers around the world have some great advice to offer on how to improve your PUG experience.
- Panzercow discusses heroic PUG tanking.
- Too Many Annas walks you through how to be successful in a PUG.
- Can Tank, Will Travel talks about tanking irritants (many of which seem PUG-related).
- World of Warcraft Philosophized offers advice for dungeon speed runs and wonders if the dungeon finder should put people of similar gear levels together.
- And -- a bit older than the rest of the posts here, but still worth reading if you're interested in the topic -- our very first guest post covered tips for DPS running heroics.

Given that my main is a Mage, I found myself amazed when the last group I ran with simply CC'd that "extra" caster that gives the party such a hard time.
I was amazed simply because I COMPLETELY FORGOT - and I DO have a Polymorph macro - we had CC's - and here, they work like a charm =D
Old days BC, they were a must-do. The lost group-Art of CCing. It envolves not only the casting itself; it changes the way tanks pull, it changes they way DPS's DPS.

CC also makes the trash between Ick and Krick and the cave considerably easier. Was with a group who was talking about how much they hated those pulls. I asked the priest to shackle one mob for each one. Everyone was amazed at how much smoother it went than they were used to.
Before everyone was doing the little cubbyhole LoS in Halls of Reflection, ccing a hunter and a mage made things pretty easy, too.
I'd like to see a return of CC in a form that doesn't require it's overuse. It's a fun mechanic if you ask me, but I could see the problems with having to do it on every single pull.

Rule #1: Calm down, l33t boy.
Rule #2: STFU about gear. (most) 5 mans were intended for people in lvl200 gear.
Rule #3: Kick people who are assholes, even if they're talented.

Actually, no, heroics were how you *got* 200 gear. Heroics are tuned to be challenging to people in blue 187s, at most.

I made a post about social rules/expected behavior in PuGs.

(So what if its not serious?)

I usually don't click over when people post links to their blogs in these comments. Glad I did this time, though. Found that good for a couple giggles.
