Breakfast Topic: When the love comes back

The best thing about the enhancement shaman playstyle I'm working with (designed for five mans and the occasional 10 raid) is working out for myself how to glyph and spec for it. It's admittedly not the most efficient spec, relying on a lot of 3 second Fire Nova blasts in big trash pulls, but it's undeniably fun. Basically, with Maelstrom Weapon and FN, I love the trash mobs in VH or Utgarde Pinnacle. (Edited to correct the mistake I always make.) You go ahead and pull another four mobs, mister tank, I'll just hit Feral Spirit when I pull aggro. Glee! And I love hitting my "This oughta help!" macro and popping Heroism, it makes already fast boss kills go crazy fast. There's something satisfying in turning Cyanigosa into a smear on the floor before she can do that annoying Arcane Vacuum.
It's actually gotten to the point where I have to remind myself to switch over to tank for raids. Oh, if only warriors had Bloodlust. Or could tame shamans or something.
So have you rediscovered the love for an aspect of the game?

does little things you do for others like when new players ask where their trainer is and u glad you can help them, or when you trying to solo a hard group quest and somebody from the opposite faction helps, those things, the little things people do for other is what i love about this game.

I know right? There's nothing like taking down those pesky elites for a quest and your health is so low and you don't know if you'll get your heal off in time....when suddenly there's a heal outta nowhere or a person pulls aggro off you. I love helping the opposite faction and giving a small /wave or /bow at the end. And helping new people in the game is awesome because it feels like "Hey, I just helped someone learn something new about this awesome game." I love that about the game...comradery in a sense.

I always thought it was Utgarde Pinnacle

I've fallen in love with levelling again. With heirlooms and the XP boost you don't have to do any more zones you don't like the look of. No more desolace, arathi, silithus, barrens. Hello Thousand Needles Duskwallow STV Tanaris and Un'Goro!
I'm having so much fun in the old world that I've parked my Shaman at 58 and am getting my Mage up to Outland before I push on...

While I agree that heirlooms have sped up leveling, I don't think you can understate how much better it is with lower level mounts. Ashenvale, Stonetalon, Thousand Needles... All long, thin zones where I always seem to spend more time running/riding than actually killing things. Not to mention STV and Duskwood, two zones that seem intent on you spending your time running north/south and east/west (respectively).
Heirlooms may help you kill stuff twice as fast, but those low level mounts cut down on the most boring part of the game.

On my first character, a warrior, I spent all the way from 1 to 57 as arms. When 3.0 came out, I decided to spec fury for a change. I hated it. Then my friend told me I should try protection, as tanks were in high demand. I respecced, and been prot ever since. I just love tanking, and this warrior is still my main.

I've just rolled an Enhance Shammy, and it's the first alt I've ever enjoyed playing! I've got an 80 druid already, and having played every spec, it kinda ruins almost every class. I've done tanking, I've done melee, I've done spell casting, I've done healing. But shamans... just amazing.
Also totem micro management is my idea of fun :D

Bubble hearth. That's all I'm saying because you know the other classes hate me when I wave and hearth away like a wimp.
Ramco Mar 11th 2010 8:21AM
I know you hate it when I switch to battle stance and shattering throw your bubble :)
Eternauta Mar 11th 2010 9:08AM
Buuble Heart is useful in PvE too.
Yesterday I used it to escape a fail VoA pug just before we wiped.

Just the other night, my brother and I went off to Goldshire on our faction-changed mains. We discovered a lowbie hunter trapped on one of the roofs, surrounded by three Alliance 80s. "You two have no idea how glad I am to see you T_T." We ended up picking up a few more, and frankly we tore up the area for about two hours until there were just too many for us to handle and our impromptu group rushed into Stormwind for a suicide attack.
So I guess I rediscovered my love of doing the random world pvp things I always told myself I would do when I finally reached 80 =)

Same story here, but alliance side. Some random 70ish hordes ganking Darkshore. Loved to wipe the floor with them.

Making a group by Posting/Responding to a request in [Local], you're meeting new people with their own stories and actively working towards a goal.
Better still when you bump into those people questing around and you form a posse. Best instances of this have been in Nagrand. The awesome horde quest line and the fairly active PvP in a stunning setting, look forward to it on every alt.

"And I love hitting my "This oughta help!" macro and popping Heroism"
Heroism? He looks like an Orc to me.
QUICK! GET HIM! HE'S ONE OF THEM!
Neyssa Mar 11th 2010 9:34AM
Oh I actually had to look up what new shaman spell this Heroism is, I am just leveling my enhancement and didnt remember this one :))) A real orc is lusting for blood...
Tushar Bharadia Mar 11th 2010 11:04AM
Would you cut the man some slack? Such is his love (see title) for the shaman class that he has levelled more than one.

im always discovering new things to do, mostly in leveling new toons. i love playing all the different classes and currently have 6 80s. but after 6 80s things were getting a bit stale on the ally side so i now have a 71 lock im working on. its a nice change of pace as i have to learn where things are in the citys and flightplans and whatnot. but i think thats what keeps me going in this game is that there is so much to do! and thats whats kept my subscription going for well over 3 years now :)
dynamitecandyman Mar 11th 2010 8:26AM
71 undead lock*
:)

I love my DK, before Lich King came out I was on a several months hiatus from the game, but once it had I decided to pick it up and try this new class everyone was going on about. She's now my main, fully equipped in gear good enough to do ICC as a dps or a tank, and there is nothing about her I hate except for the attitude from other players saying 'All DKs are bad'
She definitely made me rediscover my love for the game.

I've discovered I really enjoy playing on my (now) level 60 ele shaman in the leveling battlegrounds and turning retadins into a smear on the floor. And when a big group of Alliance come and I get a double Lightning Overload proc on my Chain Lightning, reducing a few of them to twitching corpses? BZZZT.
