WoW Rookie: What's "move out of the fire" in your language?

If you use the Dungeon Finder with any regularity, you're likely to eventually find yourself grouped with a player who speaks a different language. World of Warcraft is localized (translated) to nearly a dozen different languages, including two versions of English (USA and EU), French, German, Spanish, Russian, Korean and two versions of Chinese. While U.S. and Oceanic players can generally count on groupmates to speak English, things can be quite different elsewhere in the world. Individual Latin American and EU realms tend to attract groups of players from particular areas -- Brazilians on one server, Hungarians gathered on another, Italians dominating still another.
Many players welcome the language barrier as an opportunity to polish their language skills. Still, how do you coordinate your way through a tricky pull with someone who doesn't speak a word of your language?
Let's crowdsource this issue. We've compiled a list of common terms you might use in a PUG. We'd like you to list your translations in the comments, if you are fluent in another language. We're not going to cover Russian, Korean or Chinese, since those players generally do not cross paths with Western players. Please keep your suggestions brief; simplicity trumps elegance. If you'd like to see phrases we didn't include, feel free to suggest them, but keep in mind we're sticking with the basics. We'll compile the list and create a starter guide in next week's Rookie column.

Thank you! My battle realm includes the Warsong server, which is predominately Brazilian. I've actually just printed your comments off for future use, for the only thing worse than poorly performing PUG is a poorly performing PUG that can't breach the language barrier
Aaron Mar 11th 2010 12:00PM
LOL!!! @ the end!
xDDDDD
lisapoisso Mar 11th 2010 12:01PM
@Relmatos Thank you for your addition!

Most in-game terms (like "need", "greed", "share quest, plz!" and buff/item names) and basic communication ("hi", "hello", "tyvm", "ty", "help", "bye", "cya") we don't translate.
The translations above are "correct" since you aren't in combat/boss fight... in this moments the terms change to some slangs/jargons:
Bye = "flw"
Thank you - "vlw"
Ready? - "Pronto?" or "pode ir?"
Ready! - "Pronto!" or "bora!"
Follow me. - "Segue" or "vem"
Move! - "Sai dai!" or "Corre!"
Need heals. - "Cura!!!".
Move out of the fire! - "Sai do fogo!"
Some terms we incorporate to the language and then we conjugate these "new verbs":
- I'll tank = "Eu vou tankar" or "eu tanko"
- I'll buff [buff name] = "eu buffo [buff name]"
;)

Thanks. My main is on the Gurubashi Server and is mostly Brazilian. It is kind of sad to see the racism that the English speakers have against them. I can only hope that things like this will allow them to stop being short sited and just play the game
Zinn Mar 11th 2010 6:37PM
I don't know portuguese but I've studied some spanish. "Eu tenho" probably means "I've got/have" and I think "pequeno" means "small" . So I can conclude what "pirú" probably has to mean ;)

I've always found comparative linguistics(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparative_linguistics) to be very fascinating.
Looking at some of these translations and other slang shows a nice example of some of this.
Very nice everyone!
Choline Mar 12th 2010 8:35AM
I lived five kilometers from Holland and only knew the words "Alsjeblieft" "Bedankt", and "Let op! Drempels!" Plus a few lines from "Kabouterdans" but I don't think that counts.
Thanks for this! But yeah, also seconding the idea that most Dutch people do speak very good English. It's part of why I never had to learn much Dutch.
Dharmabhum Mar 11th 2010 11:17AM
In addition to any translations we have coming in, I'd welcome a list of realms that feature said demographics. Can anyone say what servers typically host Brazilians and Italians for example?
