WoW Moviewatch: Farinar Presents: Oswald's Amazing Story of EVIL!
This video was hilarious to me, and is the first comedy entry we've seen in the Rise to Power contest. Farinar did some amazing stuff with this video. One moment in particular stuck out to me. When the squirrel lights the fuse on his rocket ship, you'll notice the action is entirely implied by the scene framing. You obviously don't see the squirrel holding the match, just the tip touching the fuse. This kind of clever framing is one of the ways skilled machinimators like Farinar manage to make their videos have so much action, even while working within the limitations of WoW's models.
My only sad moment during the video is when the squirrel becomes a cybernetic killing machine. I was really looking for a Dath Vader moment when it screams, "Noooooooo!" I guess it makes sense that didn't happen, but I still would have giggled like a madman.

I liked it all the way up to the part where he turned into a mechanical squirrel...
It was VERY funny slapstick style antics up until that part...could have watched that for awhile...

The best part was the angry squirrel's eyebrows.
Very Parker/Stone.

Thank you, Oswald!

Huh? what do you have against Varian?
I don't remember him having anything against critters :)
Otherwise, interesting video. Though i agree that he should have stayed squirrel and be ressurected to continue his "attempts"

I had trouble hearing and/or understanding the gnome and some of Varian's words without turning my volume to max, but I liked it. The rocket ride was funny, wish it lasted a little longer. I totally would have happily watched a longer version.

There were a few confusing plot points, which were distracting for me:
Since when is King an elected position rather than a hereditary title? Why would Varian run on an "anti-critter" paltform?
What was the explosion that ejected the squirrel from the gnome's house? Did the squirrel blow it up, and if so, why?
After killing Varian, did the squirrel run for King and get elected? Or did we suddenly switch from an elected king to a conquering king?
And most importantly, why didn't we get to hear the squirrel's death sound when it died? That would've been the best part of the movie!

I'd like to note that a lot of things were cut from final movie, for example a "NOOO!" from Oswald. I'm currently working on Oswald's Amazing Story of EVIL! 2.0 which is practically the same movie but with better sound and a few more scenes. The movie was made in about 2 days and I really rushed it. This gives me the chance to make it the movie it could've been.
THERE WILL BE VOICES
While I'm here, I'll answer some of the questions that have been asked:
Since when is King an elected position rather than a hereditary title? Why would Varian run on an "anti-critter" paltform?
"Wait, what?! You don't vote for kings!" It was actually a Monty Python refence more than it was a plot device :) Might have been a bit too hidden, though.
What was the explosion that ejected the squirrel from the gnome's house? Did the squirrel blow it up, and if so, why?
Oswald blew up the laboratory in rage, but I guess that could have been done in a better way. I'll look into that scene.
After killing Varian, did the squirrel run for King and get elected? Or did we suddenly switch from an elected king to a conquering king?
There are a lot of leaders in the past that has taken over the rulership after the previous leader died. Again, the election was as more of a reference and joke than it was a plot device.
And most importantly, why didn't we get to hear the squirrel's death sound when it died? That would've been the best part of the movie!
Due to the short production time I did not have time to find the proper voice acting for Oswald. However, when the new version comes out that will change :)
Hope that cleared a few things up! :)

D'oh, I missed a Monty Python reference?
Sweet, looking forward to Oswald's "death squeal" ;)
