How soon do you think we will get another expansion after Cataclysm?I ask because the psychology of content available is still tied directly to levels needed to be achieved. 5 levels does not seem like much especially when the state of the game is now impacted by random dungeons - not necessarily the number of quests available. I truly believe that people are going to be clamoring even harder and sooner for WoW 5.0 than they have been for 4.0.Yes, we all know the world is being torn asunder and we can create brand new first level characters to see the storyline through. Yes, Blizz is putting in a lot of time and will put out a quality product. Yes, some of us realize that this is a backdoor attempt to offer us WoW 2 so they do not fall in the same trap that ate Everquest 2.

I don't really think the "psychology of content available is directly related to levels" as you said. When wrath came out everyone was fighting to get to 80 as soon as possible. And sure, having 10 more levels stretched that time out some. Blizzard has already said the time to level to 85 will be similar in the time it took to get from 70-80. So, some will power through in binge sessions and get there in a couple of days, while the rest of us take some weeks. However, the life of an expansion IS directly related to raid content. We are in the age of PUG's. ICC 10 (at least) is being pugged, and i've been in some fairly good ICC 25 pug groups when I miss my guilds run. As are the rest of the raids. While everyone is able to get gear relatively easy (easy being a definition of time investment compared to previous expansions) you are seeing many more people spending their 'endgame time' in raids. So, can a single expansion last for 2 years even if it's only 5 levels? Of course it can. As long as blizzard keeps giving us more raids and a sprinkling of 5 mans, an expansion can last forever! Because really, what's the difference between an expansion and a major content patch? New classes? Some random sparkly things. TLDR: The expansion cycle will stay on the same schedule it has been. If not slow down due to Blizzard's other IPs (omgnewmmowhat)

they could just double the ammount of experience needed, making the leveling process as long as 70-80. would suck though, since if feels better to ding often, many times, than to ding seldomly, few times.

Bliizard have said that in CAT:a) The levels will take much longer to complete than they did in Wrath.b) The reason they only put 5 levels in is so they can focus on end-game content. Which is how they're managing to ship Cat with 4 fully functional raids! Personally I'd prefer more raids than a few more grinding levels.thebarrenschat.wordpress.com
