If you can't understand how someone is feeling, dismissing it as wrong is a great way to make them feel unloved isolated and ugly. You're wrong, depression (actual chronic depression, not boohoo I'm sad for a good reason and will be better in a week) is incredibly crippling and agonizing. If you've never felt that way, count your lucky stars, don't reject the possibility of even feeling that way.
