Lich King strategy and tutorial video
The video embedded above, WoW.com's Lich King Tutorial, marks the arrival of Jerome Phillips (also known as Vodka's Kinaesthesia) to our team. He has a lot of talent and a lot of ideas, so we're happy to have him. You've probably seen some of his work before, most notably his trailer for Patch 3.3's Frozen Halls. This Lich King tutorial is just the first of many projects we'll be doing together, so we hope you enjoy it and find it useful. Due to the length of the encounter (and thus the tutorial), it has been split into two parts. The first part is above, and the second part is behind the cut below. As is true with all things in life, these videos are best when viewed in HD.
This video is just the beginning of a larger project here at WoW.com. We're working to bring more video content to the site in all areas, raids and otherwise. We have big plans for Cataclysm in particular. With this in mind, we've made it a point to make our video content easier to find and navigate. Any videos made by the WoW.com staff will be posted to our new YouTube channel rather than scattered across the staff's personal channels willy-nilly as they have been in the past. Check it out, and if you're feeling especially kind, go ahead and subscribe, too.

Glad to see this type of vid up. And can't wait to see more. Woot WoW.com!

Here here! These videos are excellent, I love the way he's editing it all together. The overall presentation knocks the socks off of TankSpots vids.
I look forward to more just like it.

I have to agree, the TankSpot videos can't compare to this.
Back when Ciderhelm was the only voice over, in Naxx, I really enjoyed the TS videos. But now that they have a different person doing every other strat, I find it hard to follow. One guy speaks with a bad muffled voice, the girl's voice is so over compressed my speakers start to feedback from it, etc.
But if every boss were covered like THIS.. Man.. The future looks niiice.

Learn with Vodka! The way Russian students always do

I go to tankspot, because the girl who does the videos is hot and she plays WOW. Just Saying.
Sedirex Mar 20th 2010 11:14AM
At least on tankspot you can see what's going on. I couldn't watch more than a minute of this with all the flash-cuts and slow spinning.

Cider has a great voice, but the other male narrator makes me want to punch his face in and the girl can barely speak English. (Sindragosa isn't setting out a delicious buffet for us!)
Aaaand this video absolutely destroys anything they've put together.

She speaks clearly understandable English. If you cannot understand certain accents you need to learn to hear English better, as you can't expect everyone to pronounce the same as your Ma and Pa did.

Right now Jerome is working on the videos themselves, not worrying about posting them. Alex just made announcement post, because that's what editors do. =)

Perhaps Kinaesthesia didnt want to do the initial post, would rather have someone else do the intro, or the deal is that he doesnt do posts, he does videos.
Quit nit-picking, be thankful they are doing something like this.
Faith Trust Mar 19th 2010 3:33PM
I dont think it has to do with the videos itself.
But Its a very fun concept and I will create a youtube account just to suscribe to this channel
Faith Trust Mar 19th 2010 3:34PM
Uhm, i dont think my first comment was clear.
It looked odd to me that it gave me an X instead of a number 30mins ago, or something.

1 word: YAAY!!!!
I'll have to link this to the GM of my guild, I think he'll like it.
Thank you both for this. :D

It's nice to see something good coming out of Alterac Mountains these days. With all the hate and drama over the Darrowmere folks moving in and a few rather MOUTHY endgame raiders in trade chat viciously treating everyone asking class questions, i was beginning to think my server was bereft of helpful and decent individuals (with a few exceptions).
Kinaesthesia, you are a credit to your guild. :)

While I think Tankspot generally does a good job of producing video contents for strats, I love the presentation of information in this video.
jam Mar 19th 2010 3:24PM
Interesting, wow.com still has some content that isn't aimed for the most casual of the casual players.
Devo_AS Mar 19th 2010 3:35PM
Very nice, now for a dumbed down 10 man version ;)
The Dewd Mar 19th 2010 4:33PM
As the GM of a guild doing 10-man ICC at a leisurely pace, it's sometimes hard to find decent videos/positioning maps/raid makeup/etc of the 10-man versions sometimes. It does my RLs no good to hear that we need 2 tanks and 7 healers for a fight if we have to guess whether to bring 2 healers or 3.
While we tend to just "learn by doing", videos are nice so we aren't all interpreting written strats differently. The quality of this video looks to be very helpful so even just mentioning any differences between 10-man and 25-man would be helpful. Actual 10-man videos would be even better, of course. ;)

Was this filmed on a camera phone, or something? >.>
