No, most people get the concept. I use KonferSuicideKings (KSK) to automate everything and it lets me put the list up in raid chat. Usually once people see the list, it clicks in their heads how the system works.
The biggest hurdle we usually have to surmount is puggies remembering that in order to show interest on an item they have to whisper the ML the word "bid" once bids are opened for it.
A lot of them /roll when bids open, and I have to remind them to whisper me instead.
Of course, if no one bids main spec, the addon automatically goes to offspec rolls and the addon tracks all /rolls (ignoring rolls from classes who can't use the item) and then hadns it to the winner. And if no one rolls offspec, the addon hands it to the designated enchanter (or the ML if the item is BoE).
