Sounds like it. I kind of like a little variety in my Arenaing. I enjoy trying to time pillars to use for LoS and love watching someone mess up to go LoS there and wind up with nothing.
It just sounds like you're suggesting completely removing the skill that comes with environmental awareness, aside from the few bug-related issues you made good points on. What is next? Complaining about Blade's Edge Arena because it has multiple levels? How else could we have variety in Arena? Each Arena is a different shape perhaps? Square, circle, hexagon? Not too exciting from my perspective.
I don't understand the point of removing the environment. You should be about player skill yet you completely disregard the skill it takes to manage these environmental issues (again, not including the well described bug related issues).
But I, for one, can't get behind homogenizing all aspects of arena because it creates variables that aren't 100% under player control. I'll be the first to admit I'm not a hardcore Arena junky, but I like to pull a respectable range around 1500 rating and a part of the fun factor involved is in dealing with different environments.

Doesn't make it any less true.
I facerolled way past 1500 when I started arena last season without the slightest bit of skill or strategy as ret/arms and ret/arms/dk.
There is nothing respectable about it.
