Surprised there isn't a post yet about the issues with Macs running 10.4.x and GeForce 8600M suddenly shutting down the game about minute or two after it opens.

which raises the question of why you are still running Tiger =O

If you have recently updated your drivers, it could be related to a recent post here
http://www.wow.com/2010/03/05/recent-nvidia-drivers-causing-catastrophic-failures/
There has been a post on the forums claiming to help fix the issue, but like so many things with computers, the fix is a use at your own risk sort of thing.

@delphinus87
Because I'm a poor and obsessed with WoW, and not the only one by the amount of people posting on the forum with this same problem.
@Spazmoose
They recently posted this on the Mac Tech forum:
- We have a fix for both issues but it will require a client patch. We don't have an ETA for now.
So no jumping into computer configurations to change anything, hopefully should be fixed soon.

Correct me if i'm wrong, as I'm new to Mac's, but isn't the Snow leapard upgrade ridiculously cheap? like not even twice a mothly WoW subscription?
Not saying that makes things any better, I am just curious
Brian Broom Mar 23rd 2010 11:40PM
Its cheap from Leopard, not from Tiger.
djchamp Mar 24th 2010 12:31AM
Not true, the retail version of Snow Leopard can be used to upgrade from Leopard or to do a complete new install regardless of previous OS.
Alan Falcon Mar 24th 2010 12:26AM
djchamp: And it's free if you use the five finger discount at the local Apple Store.
Regardless, the ~$30 cost of Snow Leopard is for a Leopard->Snow Leopard upgrade license.
djchamp Mar 24th 2010 12:37AM
yes and no. While the license for the standalone retail version of Snow Leopard restricts that upgrade to users of Leopard, Apple has acknowledged that there is no technical barrier preventing a direct upgrade from Tiger.

Snow Leopard also won't run on G5s.

The reason you hardly hear about Mac problems openly is that they have a contract with Apple to keep those down - people would freak out if they knew that a Mac nearly has as much problems as a PC... ;)

All of my macs have a graphics issue as well, and have since the last patch. The issue may be less severe under Snow Leopard, I fixed mine by turning off shadows, but there is definitely a client problem they will need to fix.

Admittedly, I'm stuck at the loading screen. Got to my characters and it's just been sitting there trying to load Dalaran for the past 40 minutes.
And I'll probably reply to this if I manage to ever get in. XD

"Changing a character's model during a weapon swing will result in your off-hand weapon disappearing."
anyone understand that?
ZeroCool Mar 24th 2010 12:01AM
Happened to me too. Make sure your addons are updated. That fixed it for me. Don't know which one it was.
johnthediver Mar 24th 2010 12:11PM
I had that problem, killed wow.exe and reloaded. Worked just fine after that.
Jiffah Mar 24th 2010 12:39PM
My brother has the same issue. He used a mage portal to Dalaran and got stuck on the loading screen. He waited, and waited,(at least 40 min as well) then exited the game, launched it back, nothing. Lame

Anyone else having a problem where the 'config.wtf' file in the WTF folder keeps reverting to default settings (sometimes mid-game)?
DarkFinch Mar 23rd 2010 10:52PM
I had that issue. I managed to fix it with this simple procedure.
1. Open and log in to WoW
2. Open the WTF folder (in another window, obviously)
3. Rename the 'config.wtf' folder. For this purpose, I just called it 'oldconfig'
4. Close the WTF folder and switch back to WoW.
5. Configure all your settings to how you see fit.
This will create a new 'config.wtf' file that contains all your new settings. Try closing and reopening WoW. All the settings that you just reconfigured SHOULD be how you left them before logging out. You can now delete the 'oldconfig.wtf' file. =)

Since ween did they add auctioneers to Dalaran? I don't recall seeing this in the Patch Notes.
