Alice should have won 1st place.

Not sure why the rate-down for this guy. It's his OPINION, people... He can't be wrong about it...
Rating him down just lends further credence to the truth that if you want civil, back-and-forth discourse about WoW and all things good/bad in it, this isn't the website for it.
If you're gonna post here, gotta make the rate-down nazis happy with your fanboy-ism.

The assumption the down-voters are making is that Alice won as many votes as she did purely by including her hot self. You're still free to have the opinion that scantily clad chicks are always the best way to win photo contests (ostensibly for plushies), but it's the opinion of the silent majority that such an opinion faintly to moderately offensive and belittling.
Hence the down-rate.
Is there really a conversation to be had over the merits of near-naked chicks that is being thwarted?

"it's the opinion of the silent majority that such an opinion faintly to moderately offensive and belittling."
Parsing that statement leaves me wondering a few things:
If they're silent, how do you arrive at your conclusions on their reason for the downvote?
Secondly, as the internet lacks the means to transmit intent, how do we know the poster's reason for choosing Alice as a winner? More assuming, I assume?
That's a lot of assuming.

I am also confused by the downrating. I would think that the "i'd hit that" comment would have been targeted before this.
While Alice's was not my favorite, I do think it is more than just a pretty girl with a murloc. She is wearing a Lovely Purple Dress and is obviously supposed to be a Blood Elf. It took some effort and creativity, otherwise it would not have made it into the finalists to be voted on.

Eh no big deal. If people have a problem with hot women playing WoW and taking pictures of themselves, so be it. I thought Alice should have won for the fact that she's a woman, she's good looking, she obviously plays WoW and her picture was cooler than the rest. All the newbs hiding behind their monitors can continue downranking me. It won't change my opinion of her picture.

I'd hit that.

The controversy over this amuses me. To be honest I didn't care much for first or second place prize, and would have been happier with third, but what I placed in doesn't matter. I submitted the picture because I had the dress and thought it would be cute, not because I thought that being a girl in the picture would be instant win.

I'd love to raid on alice's server. ^_^
