Upcoming changes to the WoW Insider Show

So, to that end, we're doing a few things differently.
- Recorded intros and teasers for the show.
- Technology for the show's backend
- Provide detailed notes, along with a "here's what you're missing" clip, for each show, so you can decide at a glance whether this particular week will be up your alley.
However, one thing that will be changing is the live format. Because of the increased emphasis on production, we've made the decision not to record live each Saturday on Ustream. The podcast team, or rather the significant others of the podcast team, also found the middle-of-the-weekend broadcast schedule problematic, and our couches aren't very comfortable. So, instead, every Monday morning we'll deliver a fresh podcast for you to listen to via download, streaming audio, or iTunes. We know this affects a large number of you who listen to the show each week in the chat channel, and hopefully you'll be pleased with the other changes.
If you have further feedback for the show, please feel free to email theshow@wow.com or get in touch with me personally at sacco@wow.com and we can have a discussion.

I would like to request some other changes.
Like, bringing back Turpster. And Mike Schramm as well.
Not that I don't like Sacco or Rossi or anything... I just like the T a bit more...

I cant find the Podcast on Itunes anymore, Were else can i get it?

How about you guys give away more loot cards? The T used to do that all the time. Prizes are always fun.
The other changes seem good. I like the detailed notes the best because I would like some idea of what the show is about rather than listening for 45 minutes and then realizing I have hardly been interested in any of the topics covered. Conversely, this may drive more listeners to the podcast when the topics are geared towards their interests.

IF this means i can get my weekly fix of WoW.com podcast weekly with a bit more reliability - then yay for the changes, they are very welcome :)
Also guys keep up the good work - the show is quite excellent as it is :)

Well commented last week that i saw the show getting more and more away from being interactive with the listeners, which is what made the show great.
I said the show was jumping the shark, to land standing in the fire.
So now Wowinsider has gone this path.
Guess my theory that the show was moving away from what made it work and made it a joy to listen to and be part of was correct.
You can listen to anyone's podcast to hear someones viewpoint and have no input in the conversation, or interact with the guests. I'll read a blog or trade chat if that's what I want.
As far as S.O.'s having a problem with the schedule,. boo hoo, you knew that was the schedule before you started hosting so they should have known... maybe you shouldn't have taken the host position.
Goodbye what was once the best show around..
WoWinsider ... RIP..
Hopefully someone here will realize that they are screwing up big time playing with what works.. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Maybe someday someone at WoW.com will give the show the Rez it deserves and bring it back to what made it good to begin with.

Taija, I agree with most of what you wrote.
I'll have to listen to the "new and improved" version of the show to see how it comes out, but I am apprehensive. I liked the live show and the interactive atmosphere. I fear that in their "increased emphasis on production" the show will lose it's spontaneity and feel scripted and forced.
I don't agree entirely that the adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. There were obvious problems both technically and with scheduling that needed addressing, but I don't think this was the best solution.
Unfortunately, I think this is symptomatic of a disturbing trend at wow.com. The editors seem increasingly imperious in their attitudes, and dramatic changes have been made with little to no concern over how their loyal listeners/readers may feel.

Well id love to give this show a chance but I haven't been able to listen to any new content in like 3 weeks now. Guys either get it together and get the show out there for the readers of this site to listen to as we are accustomed to or just put a fork in it.
Thank god that even though they don't talk about wow as much as id like I did find a Schramm/Turpster podcast to subscribe to so at least I get a little bit of what I used to love.
I did like Sacco and Rossi doing the show but the show actually needs to be done to enjoy it and im starting to lose faith that we will ever hear another wowinsider show...I hope I am wrong but if I am right it has been a nice ride for the last year + that I have been listening.

Just like the podcast I feel that wow.com, in general, has gone downhill since Mike left. I'm not certain what it is, maybe the sense of fun is gone now. All I know is that my RSS feed is choked full of updates for classes that I don't care about and analysis that isn't as worthwhile to me as what I get from The Instance. Maybe I need to create a custom RSS feed that only includes news that is actually interesting.
I guess I understand the reason wow.com churns out articles; it's a mass-niche site now, catering to many class/spec combos. Wow.com is really the engadget of wow blogs now; competent, consistent, but somewhat dull. Engadget, for example, just churns out the gadget posts. Gizmodo, on the other hand, does not just gadget posts but more interestingly posts about everything: humor, sex, Japan, world politics, etc... WoW Insider used to have a more organic news following feeling, like a cultured wow-centric digg w/o the weed articles, but now it's just bam bam bam, here's three articles about enhancement shaman. Maybe this new podcast will be worth listening to though.

Why isn't the show being posted!?!

I just signed up to make this comment. I must say I'm very unhappy with the running of the show.
Mike and Turpster had a very good and flowing show, you could garentee it being uploaded every Monday for download. Currently I feel the show is on its last legs, Socko or whatever he's called can't even get a stable internet connection to record the show then it's usually a long wait til they can be bothered to even upload it. I dont come on Wow.com anymore.
