So wait, are the echo isles and gnomeregan events ACTUALLY starting in Patch 3.3.3, or just their data will now be in the game in prep for Cataclysm?

The data will just be in the game, not activated. Blizzard has confirmed that those events will take place in the final patch before Cata launches.
