Cryptozoic takes over WoW TCG license

We don't know a lot about Cryptozoic, and we were initially skeptical until Kat Hunter's tweet.

Blizzard and UpperDeck recently split ways, which left the TCG's future full of many unanswered questions. And while there are still several today, the game at least has a home and some real potential for success.
Update: Nethaera hit the forums to formally announce Cryptozoic carrying the TCG. We'll be seeing the Wrathgate booster in May, and class decks will begin their run in June.

I was hoping for Wizards of the Coast. FAIL.

Why would you classify this as a fail? This is a new company, founded by someone who works or worked for blizzard, a company that seems to find the game itself very important instead of UpperDeck's "let it print money or ditch it" attitude. If this company co-develpps with Blizzard, i think this could become a huge success.

WotC already produce Magic. They wouldn't handle a competing game and dilute their own playerbase.
Mandydeth Mar 25th 2010 9:36AM
That would explain why the produce 6 other card games. OH WAIT. Plus one is already based on an MMO? SAY WHAT?
RogueJedi86 Mar 24th 2010 6:02PM
I think I echo everyone else in asking: who is Cryptozoic? What card games have they done before? This seems out of nowhere.

You should probably read the entire story. They explain who they are.

It's pretty clear in the article:
"WoW TCG Moves to Cryptozoic Entertainment. New company started by Blizzard's Cory Jones and Wildstorm's John Nee."
Aurilia Mar 24th 2010 6:09PM
Seems that the Cryptozoic website didn't go up until today; there's no blog posts or forum posts dated before today's date.
So they're a startup, with no prior product history, it would seem.
helien_seroner Mar 25th 2010 12:40AM
Cryptozoic (or atleast John Nee, specifically) were also the people that came up with the PrintWarcraft service aswell.
Andrew R. Mar 24th 2010 6:05PM
That's because it is. They just started the company. Read the blue.
Leviathon Mar 24th 2010 6:06PM
Not really a surprise that Blizzard made it's own company.
Andostre Mar 24th 2010 6:11PM
Who is Kat Hunter?
johnthediver Mar 24th 2010 6:20PM
More importantly. Is she BM, MM, or Surv?
Felix_rew Mar 24th 2010 6:53PM
I see what you did thar.
John Mar 24th 2010 7:08PM
Cat Hunter is probably BM
Ametrine Mar 24th 2010 7:22PM
Kat Hunter is for fite.
Arednel Mar 24th 2010 6:12PM
And as we all predicted, Blizzard take it in house after someone else shows them how to do it. Fair play to them.
Dinnerbone Mar 24th 2010 6:23PM
... Is nobody else worried by this comment in the HTML:
