The Daily Quest: Post-patch 3.3.3

Wednesday morning the staff went through their usual routine at WoW.com HQ. Which is to say we staggered, zombie-like, to the coffee machine, browsed our RSS feeds, had a nerf gun fight, polished a few articles... and then we realized we hadn't received any reader tips all morning. Was our mail server down? Was the mailing list broken? Had the world come to an end and no one had told us yet? None of the above -- but the day after a patch is very much akin to the turkey-coma that you lapse into after Thanksgiving. All was quiet and peaceful. Today's another story, but in the meanwhile, let's have some thoughts on the latest patch from the blogging community:
- Blessing of Kings and Hunters Rhok are both excited by a tiny change to the login screen for hunters.
- Armageddon's Coming wasn't expecting 3.3.3.
- Warriors seem to be excited about Revenge. Achtung Panzercow, TankingTips.com, and Tank like a Girl chime in.
- Slice and Dice does the math for Hemo and daggers in the latest patch.
- Cynwise's Battleground Manual talks battlegrounds in 3.3.3.
- Cow and Bones wishes more people would read the patch notes.
- Totemz talks about what the patch means for the elemental shaman.

This is an odd patch I hate it and love it.
Love Part
Random Bgs are sweet. Pvp stuff easy to get.
Got my dranei a tiger mount.
Hate
My DK is Half Naked When I login. Put armor on him evrytime I log in. I get disconnected when I'm auto flight sometimes. Titan Steel worthless.

Patch 3.3.3 summary.
Hate: PowerPC Macintosh users have been unable to play since Tuesday. Seriously, we get disconnected from server immediately after entering our battle.net account!

Upgrade to a processor manufactured in the last 5 years, not a big deal.

Something that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is that the cooldown on Charge (for jousting) was reduced. However, this might only be in ToC, I doubt it though.

For a moment I thought "Hemo" meant "Hemotept", a semi-famous paladin on Anetheron-US. Those that know him, love him. Those that don't know him should get to know him. :P

Long pauses when character entering world requiring a soft reboot of computer.
Spawn times of some tournement mob sets have been set to forever.
Glowergold cheese now has a queue of 15 people waiting for one to spawn.
Wintergrasp is still a developer joke. Char with higher population faction facerolls almost every game, completes all quests in one session. Strategy is just to outnumber the opponent. char on the opposing low pop faction needs a strategy to win, takes up to 4 days to complete all quests. Tenacity over 2 is still generally a loss. Either faction

It's sad really, Wintergrasp was one of those great concepts on paper that didn't translate well in the game. I rolled a new character on Alliance side Illidan server, where the Alliance are greatly outnumbered by the horde...holy cow. Rarely does the Alliance control WG. Coming from a server that had a high pop of Alliance chars, it's a crazy transition.
Those Dalaran cooking quests have always been awful, didn't know they're THAT bad now though.

I'm actually really impressed with this patch. Aside from a few minor bugs, it's been a pretty pleasant experience for me. I've even started to enjoy PvP, though I think it was just the annoying state of world PvP that soured me on that.

Has no one mentioned the problem that many players have upon logging in and being stuck at the character log-in screen? There is a lengthy thread on this subject in the WoW Community forum. Seems to be a wide-spread bug and yet no mention by anyone.

I'm surprised noone mentioned the Scourgelord Tyrannis bug.
If you aggro him too far away from the party, sometimes he jumps back on saurfang (so he's inaccessible) and continues the fight. The only way out is to wipe. Has anyone else encountered this?
Lucent Mar 26th 2010 11:55AM
Jumps on Saurfang? THAT I would like to see.
