Lots of people stop having fun and stick around as a reaction to the thought of falling behind on the AH, or the chat kinda thing with pals hoping something happens. I do it myself when I don't feel like playing but come on to check patch notes and stay up to date/do my AH thing.
Personally I think if I'm sick of wow it means I'm sick of video games at the moment. There's pve, questing, alts, and pvp. In pvp there is capture the flag, hold the bases, etc. There's attacking cities. Exploring. Helping pals. Working on the twink. Collecting new items.
If none of those sound good to me it means video games don't sound good to me at the moment.
