As a casual WOW player, I have found that I tend to play for a few months on and then drop off for about 3 months before coming back.
Of COURSE the game is fun, but I find that the time sink gets in the way of my personal life (of course, I also tend to work 12 hour days, so...)
The other drawback for me personally is that there is never really a sense of accomplishment. I'm a very accomplishment-oriented person, but there is no end in sight for WOW. It's like chasing the horizon - but at least the chase is entertaining
