I agree with you on the grind and lately the boss mechanics have been uninspired more often than not.I don't think it being a social game is a bad thing. The problem is that even the big cooperative aspects don't require a lot of socialization. Raids require some coordination, but in actual play classes don't interact much beyond buffs. That's a problem. That said, socialization via games isn't a bad thing. A bar isn't any more demanding, but it is different (and in-person interaction is important of course).I will say the crazy-focus on gear is getting to be too much. I'm rather tired of MMO after MMO being like this. It's extremely lazy to make things so gear-focused. I'd rather see an MMO be more about changing the world or otherwise event-focused. You'd do things because they'd make a difference, not because of great loot. That and a game that allowed a good amount of creative expression would be good. Lego Universe is enticing for the latter, but I am not sure how good it will be. Star Wars: TOR looks better for the former, but I worry it will be another gear grind.
