In-game fixes for March 26th, 2010

Bornakk - In-game fixes- The Endless Healing Potion is no longer usable in arenas as intended.
- Warlocks using a lower rank of Life Tap will receive a reduced benefit from their shadow spell power.
- The damage done by the cannons in the gunship encounter in Icecrown Citadel has been increased and the rate at which their heat decays has been reduced.
- In Alterac Valley, the buffs that the Generals get from the Warmasters and Marshals now grant them negative enemy dodge. This means they will now ignore some of their target's total dodge percentage. The base health of the Generals has been increased and the buff also grants a slightly increased amount of damage and health.
- The cheese items in Dalaran as well as the Kvaldir Berserkers in Icecrown will once again respawn at a faster rate.
- The window that comes up when talking to an NPC should no longer close on its own.
- Some changes to the battleground queuing system have been made to improve performance and group queuing.
- The timer for when the next battle in Wintergrasp will occur should no long disappear
There are a lot of other problems still with addons and the "loading screen boss." When those will be resolved fully is anybody's guess.

Meh, a few ticks of Siphon'ed Corruption and we're fully healed anyway.

All I have to say is "about @#$!ing time." The Alterac Blitz was supposed to be hard, not so faceroll easy that it was just about the only strategy used for the last two months.

Wait... is AV supposed to be a battleground??? I thought it was a raid!

Why always dodge? Why not give the bosses a +hit, or a generic ignore of "avoidance"? Because unless these values are rather minimal, this will affect bears the most, once again. Seriously, how much dodge does a warrior or paladin have?
staffan.johansson Mar 27th 2010 6:16AM
Dodge is targeted because it's the only avoidance stat all tanks have. DKs don't have block, and Druids lack both block and parry. So if they want to reduce avoidance by 10 percentiles on a boss, they have to reduce Dodge.
As for how much dodge a paladin or warrior has, Paragon's (the guild who downed Heroic Lich King 25-man) paladin tank has 27.55% dodge (according to armory). I'm guessing a tank ready to enter ICC would have somewhat less, but still more than 20%, which means they'll feel the full force of Chill of the Throne.

as with the icecrown aura people have this wrong again
druids dont just have only dodge - we have less avoidance total - and more HP and a tiny bit more armour
but its not what you do have that matters as a tank - its what you dont
made up stats to demonstrate:
OP pala on 80% avoid - damage taken 20%->40% in ICC = 100% more taken
squishier druid on 60% dodge - damage taken 40%->60% in ICC = 50% more taken
we use less avoidance so its less of a nerf
less of a +X% to what we take
it actually makes it more even

The latest patch has destroyed battleground queues even more than before.
I waited in a 30 minute queue for WSG last night. AT LEVEL 80 people.
For whatever reason, when they changed the queuing to only 2 bg's at a time, it's been downhill ever since.
Blizz, please stop "improving" battlegrounds.
Bronwyn Mar 27th 2010 12:00PM
I don't know if this has been fixed yet- they don't say specifically in the hotfix, but for what it's worth there was(is?) a bug where people who queue for specific bgs aren't getting thrown in with the people who queue for randoms. I imagine this will improve.

That's not Blizzard, that's your BG. Every single BG, morning, noon, evening on my Battlegroup, I que up, I got something in 5 minutes doing the dual que.
If you're that bent out of shape or the people on your group are that they're refusing to que than it's their problem. The tools are being provided. How and when people use them is something Blizzard can't control initially till longer testing has been done.
At least they TRY to improve there implementations as well. They can always give us WSG as is and tell us to deal with it. People will still play.

I don't know if it's intended or a bug, but amongst the vehicle quest changes is a mildly frustating one. The Bone Gryphon's poison (Ebon Blade daily) now also acts as a strong knock-back. So either kite and turn them around, or spend some time mount-dropping to water or cliff-sides to loot and convert them.
