Patch 3.3.3a is now live

A small update has been deployed this morning -- patch 3.3.3a. The file is only about five megs, and we don't know a whole lot about what it does. Speculation is that it allows PPC users to play the game again, although we can't verify that right now (I'm sure some of you can, hint hint).
The patch notes are supposed to be up in the Bug Reporting Forums, however nothing is there. The patch notes provided with the patch are as follows:

Well I downloaded the patch and I am still getting stuck at the loading screen so it didn't fix that........
matt Mar 26th 2010 12:09PM
i had the same problem. deleting my cache folder seemed to fix it.
bountyhunterah Mar 26th 2010 12:40PM
well, I have the same problem even after deleting WTF/Cache/Interface folders after the patch.
I saw a post on the wow forums that said they had a fix for the Mac, but was still looking into the PC issues. so, I'm thinking this could just be the fix for macs, cause since I've been on, folks have added 2 more pages of it still happening

No, it has not fixed the loading screen problem. I too have deleted all the standard folders that Blizz always tells us to delete, i have flushed my DNS. Even with no addons, i still get stuck at 100% loading screen the first time, after closing wow and relogging, I get in. I was hoping this patch fixed that, but obviously it has not.

I had the same loading screen issue and when I disabled addons, it went away. I think loading screen issues are often due to out-of-date addons.

I suppose deleting the interface folder gets rid of all addons, but does it do so as cleanly as disabling them within the game? Probably, but it's worth checking out

One of my computers is a Mac G5 and I'm having this same issue on that (and only that) machine. My other machine is a newer Intel Mac and it's fine. I have done all the stuff (deleting caches, and add-ons, etc) and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. It didn't make any sense. Then I read a post on the forums that said the connection issue, itself, was random (I know, not truly random, but not predictable with available information) and that the solution was to just keep trying.
This means that sometimes if you do all the "fixes" it may seem to work, but it was just coincidence. I tried it, and it's true - at least for me. I get the "You have been disconnected from the realm" error and I just back up and re-log, over an over, and eventually, I get in - with or without my add-ons, with or without fresh cache. Persistence seems to be the key. Sometimes it takes about 30 tries, or so. I had to remove my authenticator, because having to use that every time was just too much. I'll put it back, once the glitch is gone, of course.

Here is a workaround for G5 users still having problems.
The moment you see the word SUCCESS! Hit the ESC key.
This will bring up the realms to choose from. You MUST wait 30 seconds before choosing a realm.
This has worked for me all week, hope it helps.

@Pollux: If you think of it deductively, it's actually way, way cleaner. When you disable them in-game, the files still exist in the directory, they're still there, and all you need to do is tick a box to re-enable them again. If you delete them the directory, the game won't even realize they're there, thus it's impossible to disable them because there's nothing to disable. You can't enable that which doesn't exist. Deleting them is an act of far greater magnitude than simply disabling them, thus by conventional logic, it's far more guaranteed that deleting them will help fix the problem than just disabling them.

Maybe now Dalaran will be free of loading problems!
/sarcasm
Ravdoss Mar 26th 2010 11:37AM
Dalaran used to be the kiss of death for me until I went from 1 to 3 gigs of ram. I'd highly recommend a memory upgrade to all who have issues with Dalaran (y'kno unless you have already or your pc sux).
Kendall213 Mar 26th 2010 12:01PM
Not just Dalaran. I get caught up on the loading screen almost no matter where I am.
blindlinus Mar 26th 2010 6:34PM
@Ravdoss - definitely solid advice on ram upgrading. another thing you can do that will help a *small* bit is allocating more of your HD to Virtual Memory if you can spare it. i forget the "accepted" math on what the numbers to use are (they're based around your pc's actual ram), but i've jacked it up well beyond that will no ill effects on my pc. just make sure that you set the amount of disc space to be used as virtual memory the same on each physical hard drive you possess.

I recently upgraded from 2GB to 4GB, and still have the loading issue.

what happened to open and transparent? zomg! /endpoliticalsarcasm (meant to be a joke btw)

Real nice guys. Down voting , really?
Scott Mar 26th 2010 10:24AM
now im getting "cannot validate game version" error >_<
Scott Mar 26th 2010 10:30AM
apparently unchecking "remember account name" fixes the login issue.
Hëx Mar 26th 2010 10:38AM
I closed WoW completely and reloaded it and it worked, I still have "Remember Login Name" checked.
neon12025 Mar 26th 2010 10:40AM
Yeah i got that the first time i tried to log in, but i tried it again and it let me through.
