Patch 3.3.3a is now live

A small update has been deployed this morning -- patch 3.3.3a. The file is only about five megs, and we don't know a whole lot about what it does. Speculation is that it allows PPC users to play the game again, although we can't verify that right now (I'm sure some of you can, hint hint).
The patch notes are supposed to be up in the Bug Reporting Forums, however nothing is there. The patch notes provided with the patch are as follows:

Update: I got booted from the server and when trying to log in got the validation error, had to close my client again and retry. Still have the checkbox ticked.

This problem occurs on the PTR client updates fairly often. Unchecking the "remember login" box or entering random characters for the login name usually fixes it.
However, DO NOT follow the steps in the link recommending the use of the repair tool. A few people in the tech support forum are reporting that the tool sees their install as invalidates their entire install and recommends reinstalling the whole game. For people who bought via digital download, this doth suck greatly!
Seems like Blizzard has been taking patching lessons from "sorry your copy of X software is not genuine" Microsoft.

I got the unable to validate game version, exited out, got it again, exited again, and then got in, so just keep trying if you can't get in.

Aaahhh so dalaran is preventing people logging in??
GM kindly moved 2 of my toons that appeared to be too busy for me to play them after the patch. Didn't have any issues after that though hearthed back logged out and in again quite happily

I'm hoping it means I won't have to click 3 times to get an NPC to talk to me.
Mordockk Mar 26th 2010 10:42AM
your toon probably just has really bad breath caused by the gum disease GINGAVITIS
Vandersveldt Mar 26th 2010 11:19AM
Why was that downrated? Made me laugh so hard lol. Maybe you just don't know the gingivitis joke/meme?

Yeah, "Unable to Validate Game Version" and WoW's official website is offline. I guess i have to wait.
Blake Mar 26th 2010 12:47PM
Just keep trying. It took me 3 tries to get in after getting "unable to validate game version."

I had the verification issue after I patched my machine. I looked on the Tech support forums and someone suggested unclicking the remember account name box. Mine was checked, so I clicked mine and was able to log in.
The issue where you would get to 100% was fixed for me when I deleted the Blizzard addons in my Interface/addons folder. The game will rebuild those files the first time you log in. Not positive this will work for everyone, but it worked on the three machines of mine that would freeze at 100% loading.

Syn, I am a tec tard, so could you please clarify? It is only the Blizz adds and not the outside source adds?
Thank you for your time

@Mikata - Just the blizzard addons. I left the rest of them alone. I also flushed my DNS on my PC. To do that click Start --> Run and type cmd in the box and click enter. WHen the DOS box comes up type ipconfig /flushdns Make sure you are totally out of WoW and make sure there is a space between the words ipconfig and /flushdns

Thank you very much, I shall give it a try :)

This patch does indeed fix the "disconnected from server" issue that Mac users with PowerPC chips were experiencing. I tested it and it works (at least for me). A number of PC users were having the same or similar issues at log-in so hopefully this patch address their issues as well.
BigB Mar 26th 2010 11:23AM
I was having a similar taking 10 minutes or more to login issue and it turned out it was the gearscore addon, so get rid of that bandwidth hog, especially in Dal, just too many players and the addons hidden channel traffic was just too much and causing it to not load right.
tahlatria Mar 26th 2010 11:31AM
You mean I'm not the only one having the problem of npc's taking 3 -4 clicks to let me see the quest, then 2 more to get the quest and well we won't talk about the turn in clicks -sighs-
Docseuzz Mar 26th 2010 11:35AM
I can't log in when I have any addons... clear them all - no problem.
Workaround: Use Addon Control Panel. Disable all addons but it at character select screen. Log in, hit Esc, then 'Addons' in menu, enable all you want, click 'Sets -> 1 -> Save' (for next login), then ReloadUI button. Now your addons are working. Next time you login, you'll need to do same (disable all, enable Addon Control Panel, login), but at least you'll have a saved set to turn on all the addons you want...

"Unable to validate game version. This may be caused by file corruption or the interference of another program."
The patch don't fix the game for me, only break game.
