Looks like Ghostcrawler was off today, probably fine-tuning his gin-to-coffee ratio (I think 3:1 is the best).

Bornakk -- Gems and enchants on old gearThere is currently an issue that we are aware of where gems and enchantments are missing from items that had them before we released patch 3.3.3 this week. This appears to be affecting some equipment that was acquired before the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. We are planning to resolve this during the next maintenance on Tuesday, March 30th, and recommend that you do not try to gem or re-gem any of this gear until after that time. We will provide further updates if this situation changes.

Slorkuz -- Random BG queues buggedActually, you're not too far off with guessing it is a bug.
We have in fact identified a bug with the random battleground queuing system and queues for specific battlegrounds. The bug results in specific BG queues taking longer than normally expected due to some issues when the system is picking eligible players from both the random BG queue and the specific BG queue . We are currently working on a hotfix for this issue, and will hopefully be pushing said fix live within a day or two.

I lost my meta and other gem on my engineer helmet on my abandoned 70 mage, but not the gems in my kara pants. Random bug is quite random!

I am so relieved to hear that it is a bug. I am just about over the whole random bg thing and would really like to be able to go back to playing just my favorites. An hour in the AB queue vs 3 minutes in the random queue just doesn't seem right.

It's a shame bungie went downhill with the halo series. They are basically just milking the franchise bone dry. My vote would have gone to bungie if they would have continued with their Myth and Marathon series. Which in my opinion, i would rather play any marathon game over a halo game any day. And Myth being another one of my favorite RTS's next to Blizzard's.
